Chapter 11
I was running down the halls desperately trying to find Ellie, Charlotte or Jackie, heck anyone I was buzzing with happiness nothing could ruin it for me. I had spotted Ellie by her locker.
“Ellie! Ellie!” I called out nearly knocking over a student. She turned around and looked a little bit embarrassed by my shouting.
“What?” She whispered looking if anyone was staring at us.
“I’ve gotten amazing news.” I jumped up and down in excitement. “Max asked me to prom.” I stopped jumping to hear her reaction.
“Rachael, that’s fantastic!” She started jumping up and down giddily with me.
“I know right? Where is either Charlotte or Jackie?”
“Jackie is having one of her moments with Cris.” She rolled her eyes. “And Charlotte is flirting with her brother’s friends.” She shrugged. The usual then.
“Has anyone asked you yet?” Ellie opened her eyes in shock as if remembering something.
“Nick asked me.” She looked disgusted.
“Did you say yes?” I know stupid question.
“‘Did you say yes?’ No, of course I didn’t say flipping yes!” She shook her head at me laughing to herself.
“Sorry, I have small moments sometimes.” I laughed with her.
“What’s so funny?” Charlotte and Jackie asked.
“Nothing but I’ve got some great news. Max asked me to prom!” I smiled and waited for their response. They both screamed and hugged me until I couldn’t breathe.
“That’s so amazing!” Jackie said sobbing. So attention grabbing.
“I’m going to say it’s amazing, without crying.” Charlie turned to Jackie. “Well done kiddo, you’re turning into a girl. It’s only me left now.” She looked proud of herself.
“Just because I’m going to prom doesn’t mean I’m not a tomboy anymore. Besides you flirt with boys all the time that makes you gay.” I patted her on the shoulder.
“I’m still a girl; do you want me to prove it?” She said grabbing her sweat pants.
“NO!” We all cried at once. Knowing Charlotte she probably would have done it as well.

Walking to my last lesson I remembered it was science, and I was Nick’s lab partner. God help me!
I sat down at the desk next to him without saying a word. Unfortunately he didn’t get the message I didn’t want to talk.
“Hi, I haven’t seen you all day.”
“Good.” I said under my breath.
“Have you been avoiding me?” I nodded slightly hoping he didn’t see me.
“No, I’ve just got a lot of homework.” I lied. Nick nodded his head, some people are so gullible.
Towards the end of the lesson Miss O’Brian set us a project on elements. So boring, but if it’s got to be done.
“On this project you’ll be working with you partner,” WHAT? She can’t be serious, that means seeing Nick outside of school too. Kill me! “It is due in a month’s time.”
