I knew I said it. I knew I did the moment I woke up the next morning. Everything before I fell asleep hit me, hit me hard. I had no idea what I was saying.
So yeah, I knew I said it. Daniel however, didn't seem at all fazed. Through breakfast, and morning cartoons with Rose, he didn't act different at all. But I knew I said it. I remember very clearly.
"I think I like you, Daniel."
Obviously he knew what I meant. Obviously he heard me. Did he just not care?
"Walter?"
I shook my self from my thoughts.
"Huh? Oh, yeah?"
"You're so dazzed out. Are you sure you're okay?"
I nodded, looking at the TV screen.
"Yeah I'm good. Made sure to drink a bunch of water this morning."
"Okay, good. Hey, it's almost noon. What should we do?"
"Wait already?"
I looked over at the clock above the entry way.
"Damn. Okay well. Maybe eat something real fast then head over to your place and start moving?"
"Is Rose joining us?"
"Yeah, am I joining?"
I looked over at her.
"Hmm. I guess so. You can help pack okay?"
"Okay cool."
She jumped off the couch.
"I'll go grab my shoes. Make me a PB and J please?"
She smiled sweetly.
"Got it."
I smiled at her. She ran off down the hall and Daniel and I stood. We went into the kitchen and started to prepare sandwiches. Silence filled the air around us.
"So."
Daniel looked at me. Placing the jelly-covered butter knife into the sink.
"So.."
I responded. Suddenly afraid to talk.
"Last night, what did you mean?"
I froze.
"U-Um.. what did I say?"
I let out an awkward laugh.
"Walter, it doesn't really matter it's not a big deal."
My heart gasped and tightened up.
"How could...what do..."
My hands started to shake.
"Daniel I don't want to talk."
"Walter talking is not a choice anymore. You're hiding too much."
"N-No. I just.."
"Don't lie to me, okay? Come on. I understand you feel uncomfortable but you really don't have to. I already know you like me."
I snapped my head around to glare at him.
"What the hell do you mean?"
"It's a best friend thing."
He said casually, shrugging. That ticked me off more.
"Stop it!"
I yelled.
"Stop saying that. It's not a best friend thing. How on Earth can you tell I like you!?"
