Differences

Chapter 5

I know I shouldn't have hung up on Maddie like that but I was dealing with something she wouldn't understand. I was changing, I was becoming more powerful.

*Later that same day*

When I got home I was worried. I raced up the stairs using my super speed and locked the door. I looked around my room trying to find something heavy. My dresser came in mind, so I pushed it in front of the door without breaking a sweat.

I sat down at my computer and started looking up people that had two powers. The same page that came up when me and Maddie were on the computer was at the top. I clicked on the link then scrolled down to where we had left off. I read the part that said 'on their sixteenth birthday they will go through a change that will make their powers ten times stronger than before.' I wanted to know exactly when and how that was supposed to take place. So I went back to the search results and clicked on the next following links.

I didn't find what I was looking for so I decided to search something else. 'When and how do people with two powers go through their change.' I clicked on the first link that popped up. I scanned over the text, when my eye caught something. '... the change will happen on their sixteenth birthday at 11:59 pm. When they go through the change they will become extremely aggressive for the next day. In some cases the change is so drastic that they sometimes hurt their loved ones.'

That was all I needed to read to know that I wasn't going to come out until it was over.

I didn't want to tell Maddie because knowing her kind nature she would immediately come and try to help me. I didn't want her to see me like this and much less hurt her, so I just decided to tell her after it was all over.

I knew that if I was going to become aggressive that I would probably break things. So I gathered all of my breakables and put them in the closet. I didn't really know what else to do so I went on my phone.

I saw I had a missed text from Maddie so I texted her back and said 'hey sorry I was on my computer and didn't hear my phone buzz' I was expecting her to text back when the phone rang.

*Present*

I didn't know what to do considering it was only seven, and I still had a good four hours until the 'change'. So I just decided to lay on my bed and text.

To: HAZZA<3

Hey whatcha doing?(:

I waited impatiently for a reply from Harry. When I felt my phone buzz.

From: HAZZA<3

Just homework, what about you?

To: HAZZA<3

Laying in bed. feeling sick:/

I told him that I was feeling sick so I would have an excuse for my planned absence tomorrow at school.

From: HAZZA<3

Aww I'm sorry. Hope you feel better. Will you be at school tomorrow?

To: HAZZA<3

No I don't think so);

From: HAZZA<3

Do you need anything?

I wasn't really expecting him to say something like that. So I replied with..

To: HAZZA<3

No I'm fine. But thanks for asking(:

From: HAZZA<3

Okay(: Well you should probably go to bed and get some sleep(:

To: HAZZA<3

Okay(: Bye(:

Harry was so sweet. I was planning on being just friends with him, but I really doubt that's going to happen.

*11:58 pm*

I looked over at my clock and it read 11:58. I was really nervous, and I didn't know how I was going to react to this 'change' thing. I was pacing back and forth next to the end of my bed when I looked over at the clock and it read 11:59.

I tried to see if I felt any different. I sat down on my bed and crossed my legs. I was waiting for it to happen. Something. Anything.

It felt like it had been at least ten minutes, so I looked over at my clock to see that it had only been about three. I walked over to my bedside table, where my clock was sitting, and picked up the digital clock. I held it with one hand and crushed the device, out of pure hatred.

I could tell this was going to be a long night.
