Frank's bed wasn't the most comfortable. That's why he wasn't laying on it. Well, Gerard was. Frank was laying on top of him. Gerard's hands were draped over his back, and Frank's head rested on his chest. He was still awake. He heard the steady beat of a heart in his ear, and felt the slow rise and fall of his boyfriend's chest as he slept peacefully.
It was pouring outside, and there was thunder and flashing lightning. The wind howled. A bright flash of lightning lit up the room, and Frank was startled to see a face in the window.
I imagined it, I imagined it.
An enormous clap of thunder erupted from the sky and jolted Gerard awake. His eyelids flew open, but he didn't sit up. Frank buried his face in his boyfriend's neck. He felt like a child, but he couldn't help it.
"I-I saw a face in the window," he whispered. Gerard squeezed him affectionately.
"It was a dream."
"That doesn't make it less scary."
"I know it doesn't." He smiled and kissed the top of Frank's head. Frank rolled off of his boyfriend and sat on the edge of the bed.
"I want something to drink."
"I'll get you something," Gerard said. He got off of the bed.
"Can I come with you?" Frank asked in a small voice. He hopped onto Gerard's back. He had startled him, but he was small enough to carry. The went into the kitchen, turning on every light.
"I'm making hot chocolate," Gerard said, setting his boyfriend down.
"I'll make popcorn," Frank said, digging through the cupboard to find a box.
Once the snacks were made, they went back to bed.
"I love you."
"I love you too." Their bodies were touching. Frank could feel the heat radiating off of Gerard. It was not uncomfortable. He stroked the bridge of his nose. Gerard flinched slightly, but smiled. He gently kissed Frank. He moved his lips with soft, light motion. He pulled Frank on top of him, and Frank cupped his face with his hands. He parted his lips with his tongue and slid it into his boyfriend's mouth. Gerard ran his hand down Frank's spine, touching each vertebrae individually. Their tongues intertwined. Frank slipped his hand under Gerard's shirt, running his fingers along his warm skin. His other hand was in his hair.
He took his shirt off, and lifted the other. Gerard brushed his fingers across Frank's collarbones. He placed his hands firmly on his hips. Frank ran his hands down Gerard's torso, then draped his arms over his shoulders. He laced his feet between his boyfriend's. Gerard ran his tongue along Frank's teeth. He smiled.
They sat up, their bodies still locked together, Frank's hands right around the back of his boyfriend's head. Gerard's hands trailed down from Frank's chest to his waist.
It wasn't until they finally tore themselves apart from each other that they realized that the storm was over. It wasn't light out yet, but it was on the verge of it. They lay down next to each other, Frank as the big spoon. They were hand in hand, and they slept like that, peacefully, well into the next day.
