A broken promise from James leads to an argument with Riley, which also features a new member of the studio.

James's POV
The crowd all jumped with Luke and John and Theo as I threatened to burst my drums with the sticks whilst we played Lost and Found. Everyone from the Music Programme was here watching us, some family members of students and some of the dancers from The Next Step had come along to see us play too. There was a sea of people dancing and having a good time as we played - and I could only watch one of them.

My girlfriend was standing behind the banister on the little platform which faced the stage. She had a huge smile on her face whilst she grooved with Giselle and Michelle on either side of her, her short blonde curls bouncing as she jumped. Riley was wearing an ombré dress which started white at the top and turned to a peach-orange at the bottom. It came in at her waist and the skirt pushed out around her. On top she wore a sleeveless white waistcoat and she was undoubtedly wearing white sneakers on her feet. She smiled as we looked at each other and kept dancing with everyone else until the song had finished playing.

Everyone cheered around us as we all stood and took a bow, smiling. I watched Riley and Giselle and Michelle clap and cheer for us especially. As the crowd began to fade to silence, we all unplugged the guitars and moved the speakers away.

The place began to empty out as the dancers headed away and family members began leaving with the students. I stood putting the dust covers back on my drum kit and felt my shoulder being tapped. I turned to see Michelle and Giselle and smiled.

"Hey," I said.

"Hey! That was amazing!" said Giselle.

"I told you they were good," said Michelle to her, "you were even better than last time!"

"Yeah I guess the practice paid off," I shrugged, "so where you guys heading?"

"I'm going back to Maddison for the weekend," Michelle sighed, "it's my Mom's birthday."

I winced companionably with her and then we both laughed.

"How about you Giselle?" I asked.

"I'm actually looking for Clara," Giselle said looking around, "where'd she go?"

"Oh I think she was out in the foyer with some of the other kids," I said pointing.

"I better go get her," said Giselle, "nice job James. I'll see you guys later."

"Bye," I said.

"I should go too," said Michelle, "I can't be late again."

"Good luck," I laughed as she walked away.

I turned back around and resumed putting dust covers on the drums. I glanced up to see John staring off into the distance. I followed his gaze until I was watching Michelle leave the room.

"Really bro?" I asked him. Luke and Theo had noticed too and they all crowded around us.

"What?" John said defensively.

"Can't you just talk to her or something?" I asked, "I'm pretty sure you guys can't get married if you haven't exchanged two words yet."

The rest of the band laughed and John sighed.

"No! No I can't talk to her. I just have to move on. Move on. That's what I'll do, I'll move on to a different girl. And I actually will talk to her!" John decided.

"Okay," I said walking around the drums and leaning against them, "cool."

"Okay so which girl are you gonna move on to?" Theo asked.
