Isabella gulped as she looked at Prince Arthur, standing before her. She then slowly sunk into a curtsy. He looked at her but then said in a deep voice, "Rise." Slowly she rose. She looked at him and he looked at her. She was beyond scared what happened if he saw her leaving while he was talking. Maybe he was angry or just wanted in insult a poor young maiden like her.
He was about 17 years old and she was almost terrified being so close to him. His eyes would never leave her face as she tried to find the words to free herself. Finally she found enough courage to speak. Her voice was as soft as silk as she fluently said, "I am sorry, your highness. But I have to be getting back to my house so I can help my mother as she is unable to do so herself as she is very ill." It was true Isabella's mother had become increasingly ill over the past few weeks and she could no longer manage to do somethings on her own so Isabella had to do them for her so that she wouldn't hurt herself.
Prince Arthur looked at her for a long while but then said, "Where do you live? We can take you there so do do not have to walk for a long time." Isabella was astonished, the Prince of Camelot was offering to take her, a simple poor country girl with him so she doesn't get tired. It was almost unbelievable. Merlin looked at Arthur and then looked at Isabella. She then told them where the house was but quickly added, "It is just a couple more minutes from here, you do not need to take me your grace. But I do appreciate the offer. Thank you." She smiled at the prince and started to leave, but before she could get away, she heard him call, "What is your name?" She smiled and turned around. "Now where is the fun in that, you can find that out yourself." She then turned back around and carried on walking away. She did not know how she had gotten so much courage and saying that to a Prince. What was she thinking? But she still carried on walking. Finally after a couple of minutes she reached the familiar gates of her house.
Pushing them open they made a squeaking sound as the old metal moved along the grass. She could see the massive bundle of fur running towards her. Jesse.
Jesse came bounding towards her, her mother following closely behind. "How was town, my dear?" Isabella reached down and patted Jesse's head before saying, "it was an interesting visit, mother." Her mother looked at her and said, "How so?" "Well the Prince arrived." Her mothers eyes widened as she said this. Isabella laughed and walked towards the house, leaving her mother standing there.
Her mother soon entered the house while Isabella stood by the oven starting to make the dinner for that night. "Mother, when is father coming home?" Her mother looked at her and said, "I am not sure my dear." Isabella nodded and continued her work. She feed her mother and told her she must not get out of bed as her illness was getting worse. Finally after a very long day, Isabella was able to go to sleep. She laid on her bed, and slowly she drifted to sleep.
