We slowly walk out to the fire holding hands. We sit down next to each other and grab some oat meal. We listen to the adults talk and eat silently. Jett keeps giving me weird looks, and I just roll my eyes.
Eventually Walter speaks up, "We are going in a run today, does anyone need anything?" He asks looking around. I take a deep breath and stand up.
"Do you need something Nikki?" Walker asks.
"Well yes.... But I have an announcement....." I say stuttering a little. He nods and sits down. I look around and begin.
"Ok.... So um...... I found out yesterday that..... Um..... I'm pregnant" I blurt out. I hear a few people gasp.
"How-how did this happen?" Julia asked.
"Well isn't it obvious...." I say rolling my eyes.
"Not like that! I mean did you wear protection?" She asks looking worried.
"That's awkward." I say turning red.
"Answer the question!" Walter spits out. I sigh.
"Yes of course. We always do." I say looking at Carl. He stands up next to me and holds my hand. Walter covers his face with his hands.
Julia sighs "Well, we could get you some abortion pills when we go on our run." She says. I squeeze Carl's hand.
"I-I want the baby." I say somewhat defensively.
My mom stands up, grabs my wrist and Carl's wrist, and drags us inside. She takes us into her room and practically throws us on her bed. She just glares at us for awhile. I twiddle my fingers and look at the floor. Carl wraps his arm around me. I fight back tears. I look up, my mom pulled up a chair and she is looking at us.
"What?!?" I spit out.
"You can't keep the baby." She says coldly.
