Six Months Later

I'm running late. And I can't find my keys. Why does this always happen?! Hold on... Let's rewind to earlier in the day.

I raced home from school after lunch. I left early because my parents were throwing this gala event and I had to attend. My brother was coming too and there were a lot of respectable families coming from all over the place. That translates to; I had to look good. I already had my dress picked out. It's the same baby blue dress with cherry blossoms on it that I wore on the cruise ship. Its not the original though. After the explosion I lost everything but that dress had so many memories that I went hunting for it and bought it again! With an additional forty percent off. Not too shabby.

I had my first appointment at the nail salon. I bought lunch on the way to the place and shoved in down before I walked. Not my most mannerly moment, but effective. That took an hour to do, because the lady got really chatty, and kept asking me about my boyfriend. Once I told her I was single about three hundred times, I relented and just went along with her questions.

After that, I went home, to get my hair and makeup done. My makeup artist was already waiting for me, sipping on some refreshments that one of the maids had given her while she waited. I was hustled into my bathroom by her and soon I could see my inner princess coming out. That took another hour and a half. I kind of missed my troll-ness already though, but she did a fantastic job. I had showed her my dress and she had dusted my cheeks and eyelids with some pink to match the cherry blossoms, and then brightened up my face with a darker pink lip colour.

Finally my hairstylist arrived. I was given a 15 minute break between getting my makeup and hair done, but I was not given the freedom to eat. I felt quite betrayed.

I sat down again and she started on my tangle of hair. She curled and teased and pinned my hair. I didn't have any reference to what I wanted so I told to just out it into a classy low bun style. She did an exquisite job. My hair swooped from the front to the back, and there were braids and curls secured into such a lovely style. I felt tears well into my eyes. They had done it again. What would I do without my dreams team, I wouldn't know. Of course, I didn't cry because my makeup artist started screeching and commanding me to such in my tears so I don't mess up my face. I could go to this gala looking like a tear stained monster.

Then the girls helped me into my dress, and shoes. I grabbed my clutch and they made sure I had extra lip gloss, hairpins, perfume, more hairpins, and then, just in case, an extra ton of hairpins. I laughed at the amount of pins that were wedged into my purse. Then I twirled around and showed my outfit off. I see the tears twinkling in the corners of their eyes. Now it was my turn to tease them. Ha!

I was currently running all over rather place, frantically looking for my keys. I know I looked like a chicken with its head cut off, but this was an emergency.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I looked out the window to find Sam standing in the driveway looking up to my window and waving like a mad man. Then he started pointing to the limo in our driveway. Wait, a limo? I laughed and ran down the stairs and stepped out.

Sam told me Dad had rented this so we wouldn't have to drive with sore feet tonight. Very thoughtful of him. We arrived to the venue after 45 minutes. My parents were already there, waiting for us. We were expected to be there early since my parents were hosting this event. I stepped out, and my Mom gasped. I turned toward her, panicking. Was my dress ripped somewhere? Did my hair return to its usually birds nest? What, woman? What is it!

"You look gorgeous," was all the she said.

I wanted to cackle at the absurdity of that statement, but I kept myself in check, just for them. I just nodded and said my polite 'thank you'. Then my brother and I took our correct places beside my parents, ready to welcome all the guests.
