"Octavian, calm down," you told your best friend as you desperately tried to stop him from slicing more teddy bears. He'd been endlessly going on about how those Greeks "should never have been trusted" and it's giving you a headache. You believed that there was a reasonable explanation for the destruction the Greeks had caused and Octavian is simply not thinking clearly.

"I will not calm down while those scumbags are still existing!" he yelled, causing you to take a step back. "We showed them hospitality and in return, they destroyed our home!"

"There's a reason for everything, Avian," you said. "Don't just go and kill people without hearing them out."

"I have heard enough!" Octavian stabbed his knife on the table. You yelped slightly. "I've heard all the lies they told. Honestly, (Y/n), why do you still trust them?"

"Because acting recklessly is not going to solve anything," you argued. "Something big is about to happen and starting a war with the Greeks isn't going to help."

"Maybe it won't," he said. "But the world is too small for all of us to fit in. One of us has to be wiped-out, one way or another, and I will make sure that it's the Greeks."

You pursed your lips as you watched Octavian put on his armor. The rest of the Romans were preparing to hunt down the seven demigods that managed to escape after they destroyed the camp. But despite what everybody believed, you knew that they didn't mean to destroy your home. Either way, no one will ever listen to someone like you. Everyone was too focused on revenge that they wouldn't listen to your reasons.

But what disturbed you the most was the way Octavian was acting. First he wanted power, now he wanted revenge. It was unlikely for him to act this way, considering the fact that you've known each other since you we're kids. He was a kind sweetheart who never hesitates to help people. Back in your hometown, he'd usually be the peacemaker in your school. He only began acting this way when both of you came to Camp Jupiter. He suddenly became bitter and mean for unknown reasons.

But even then, you loved him. He cared for you when no one did. He was there for you when no one was. Sadly, you have no idea if he feels the same way.

You let out a sigh. "Just remember that they're human beings as well, Octavian. They're not filthy animals that you could simply kill for no reasons."

"You just don't understand," Octavian said. "And you might never will if you don't look at things the way I do."

You sighed again, walking closer to him. "I might never will," you whispered, cupping his cheeks. "But even if I don't, I'd still love you."

Without letting him say another word, you crashed your lips into his. You waited for a few seconds for him to respond but he didn't. You began to pull away but he pulled you back, kissing you back this time. Not knowing what to do, you let your hands wrap around his neck, your fingers running through his hair. His arms snaked around your waist, pulling you closer to him.

The kiss was soft and passionate. He held you delicately in his arms as if you would disappear if he pressed to hard. Both of you pulled away, panting hard with silly grins on your faces as you held each other. He smiled at you for awhile until his face suddenly dropped. A wave of disappointment washed over you as you realized what was about to happen.

"I'm sorry, (Y/n)," he said quietly. "I love you, too, but I have to do whatever it is to succeed in fulfilling Apollo's plans for me first. Once this is over, I'd come back to you. I promise."

"I guess I don't really have right to stop you, huh?" you said, sadness filling your voice. "Just promise me you'll do your best to do what's right."
