Earlier today a note had been left in my locker, it contained a cellphone number and a simple message saying that if I ever needed to talk I could phone them. The note however did not contain the name of it's sender.
I contemplated calling this mysterious number, but unfortunately, for a social outcast like me even the simplest of tasks could lead to unbelievable embarrassment. One of two things could have happened if I dialed that number and someone picked up; it could be an honest good Samaritan on the other side of the line, a person who actually wants to help me and listen to my problems, or it could be a prank from one of the kids in my school, probably to show the school just how pathetic I am so much so that I need to call an unknown number in the hopes of gaining a friend. The latter is more likely.
Regardless I dialed the number. I was so far down on the social ladder, I didn't think I could go any lower.
One ring.
Two rings.
Three rings.
Four rings.
Five ri...
"Hello." A male voice greeted me.
"Uh, hi. It's Violet, you left a note in my locker today with your number on it. Unless it wasn't you, then this entire phone call had been a complete accident. You probably didn't give me your number did you? Probably a sick prank, listen mister I apologize for wasting your time. I seem to do a lot of that often, wasting the time of others had become like an unintentional hobby. After reading of course. Look at me babbling, sorry I haven't even let you get a word in. I apologize, I don't know why I keep talking, it's like I have some sort of verbal diarrhoea or something. Well actually it's like phone anxiety, kinda like social anxiety but over the phone, it causes me to babble and digress...Kinda like I'm doing now. Sorry."
"Stop apologizing. Your mindless babbles are kinda adorable to listen to."
"Oh. I'm usually told I'm annoying."
"Well you're not. Anything happen today that bothered you?."
"Let's just say no one likes being told that they're 'an ugly fat cow who should die and make the world a better place'."
"I'm sorry they said that."
"It's not like they were lying."
"Bull sh*t. You're a f*ck'ng gem. Don't let the opinion of low life's bring you down okay?"
"Okay?""Okay. I have homework to do, I have to go. How is this gonna work, you call me or I call you?"
"Both. I'll call you everyday, and when you feel you urgently need to talk to me, you call me. Deal?"
"Deal."

Suggested title: Late night (phone) calls
Genre: Teen fiction/ Romance.
Possible spin-offs: This story is meant to be mostly direct speech with little to no explanations, because it's just phone calls. I was thinking that the two could have a really cool friendship where they both trust each other with everything. I would want the guy who calls her to be either another wallflower or the popular guy who makes a good job at not bullying her but no one ever notices. And then I don't know, maybe they could fall in love, but like off of Pyrenees and not shallowness. I don't know if I'm making sense. If you're not into that sappy romantic stuff. You could have them just stay best friends. PM for more insane input. Also what if the guy is actually a stranger? Imagine that, it was actually a prank and these two people really don't know each other but they fall in love. Sorry, I'm such a romantic, I want this to be a love story so bad. Anyways....I want to add that I think ours important that you differentiate the different speakers I how write their weird. Like I did mine. Bold for girl, normal for guy. Like before, you can change the names and everything, I don't really care, change the gender if you feel like it. It's okay.
