Idea from the book The Hit by Melvin Burgess

Death is a drug that has been created which allows an increase of energy and physical ability to do anything. It was created as a euthanasia drug for the elderly to put them out of misery for one final week but then teenagers began to take it for the high. It is the perfect drug that improves every aspect of a human. The only downfall, however, is that you die

"I don't think this is working out," Claire said softly. Taking her glasses off she continued,"I just don't see it happening."
"Things like this take practice, over time it'll get better. I promise." Kyle answered.
She stared down at the stupid equation in her stupid textbook on her stupid lap. She just couldn't find the correct answer. Calculus, my friends, was not easy.
"No it's not" she sighed.
"Yes it is, but right now I think we should take a break. I have something to show you." He took out two white pills from his pocket. It wasn't hard to guess with the black skull and crossbones, she knew exactly what they were.
They had flooded the news a few months ago, they led to the stepping down of the government which led to the revolution happening in the heart Manchester.
"Death?" Claire asked the obvious.
Kyle nodded then replied, "I thought we could take them, these are the knockoffs. They don't really  kill you, they make you sick, but they don't kill you."
"Knockoffs?"
"You know how no one died after the revolution? Turns out some chemist person found out to make cheap death that doesn't kill you. You get the high of your life, and then everything goes back to normal. My cousin, you know Ralph, hooked me up. So I thought we could do this together." He smiled at her, his eyes begging her to take the the pill or at least accept his offer.
"I'll go get the water"

By the time Claire had returned to her room, with two glasses of water, she had made up her mind. She trusted Kyle.
"Okay then." She handed the glass over to Kyle and received the pill. They both placed the pill on their tongues at the count of three. After chugging half her glass, Claire didn't feel different and neither did Kyle.

"I heard they start working the next morning after you wake up." Kyle informed.

"Well  then I guess break time is over, time to get back to aimlessly trying to tackle calculus." Claire said and replaced (as in put back) her textbook on her lap and went back to work.
**

When Claire awoke she definitely felt different, it was great. Her vision was clearer, minus the use off her spectacles. She quickly jumped out of her bed to look herself the mirror. They said Death made you better - mentally, sexually, physically. And when she caught a glimpse of herself, she was not disappointed. Not to say she was ugly before, but she moved from being a potato to a sexy French fry. Her eyes were shining, her lips were fuller, her acne? What acne? She looked, and felt, amazing. But everyone knows, nothing that amazing ever lasts.
Her phone rang from her bed. She leaped onto her bed and answered, it was Kyle.

"Bad, bad, bad, bad, baaad news. Sh't you won't believe this. We're screwed for life!" His voice was frantic.
Earlier he had received the worst call of his soon to be short life. It was from Ralph, the guy who'd supplied the knockoff Death. He'd asked Kyle if he'd taken it and when Kyle said yes there was an eerie silence.
"Claire, the Death we took...it uhh....it wasn't a knockoff."

Turns out Ralph screwed up, the guy who'd given him the Death was trying to get rid of the real thing, so he lied. Long story short, Claire and Kyle only had one week to live. One week to fulfill all they're wildest dreams and desires. They had unknowingly thrown away everything.
It felt to Claire much like when she'd thrown away her Mickey Mouse balloon as a child. All day she had played with it, in a moment of  weakness, she'd accidentally let go of the balloon. All she could do was watch it float away. And in this moment, all she could do was  her life float away. Within eyesight, but too far to reach.

I'm so proud of this. Double update too, I'm seriously boss rn.

Suggested Title: One Week (You should probs change this, it sucks)
Genre: Adventure ?
Possible Spin-off: Ah, where to start? Firstly, Ralph needs to die, no arguments. Or he can live but he has to lead them to guy who made the knockoff Death , Jess (that's his name in the actual book, so unfortunately you can't change this one). Find Jess then ask him to for the antidote. In the real book, there is no antidote. But seeing this book is yours is can go one of two ways: They can either get the antidote and live, or there really is no antidote and they just have to go crazy. Maybe add romance, some life lessons. Maybe the guy who sold the real death was confused and it really was just a knockoff. Go Wild.
