The Changing.

They say it's an inevitable time in your life. Karma decided to bite you just because she feels like it. It's a a short period, only a year, but that year decides your life.

During The Changing life tests tour ability to compact horrific obstacles. Life doesn't throw lemons, it throws bombs and expects you navigate through The Changing while  trying not to step on any landmines.
Your life is basically turned upside down and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Why does the changing exist, you may ask. It's there to separate the wheat from the chaff, the hardworking and determined from the lazy.
After The Changing life goes one of two ways. Either you'll become successful and fulfil your destiny, that's if you persevere through it, or you'll become just another useless person roaming the world.

Though everyone knows of The Changing and are constantly 'practicing and training'. Few actually beat it.

The Changing is supposed to hit you at around 20-21, when you think you're life is about perfect. Karma becomes the witch she is known to be.

So when Cole Davids lost both his mother and father in the same freak accident, found out his house was being foreclosed, his scholarship was taken away, his father had lost his job and the icing on the cake, his girlfriend had broken up with him because he was too perfect. He knew it had to be The Changing. The theory however didn't make any sense because of The timing, he was only seventeen. It was at least three years too early. How could it be?

Cole walked into his house with a handful of bills that he found in their mailbox and...an eviction notice.
"Dad," He called for his father. He was greeted with a deafening silence.
He began to walk towards his father's room. As he neared, he began to hear muffled sobs. He walked into the bedroom to find the sight of his life, he saw the older ma'am crying. Cole had never seen his father so much as sulk, a sand then seeing him cry, it broke him. A sudden pang of sadness and anger overwhelmed Cole. He knew what was happening, but why did it have to affect his father? Why did it have to cut both his mother and brother's lives short. It wasn't fair.

He decided not to face his father in his moment of weakness and sorrow, a and walked back to his own bedroom. He'd sat on his bed blankly staring at the wall, mind empty, for about five minutes. Many could argue that your mind could never truly be empty, but Cole's could. Whenever he got stressed, or angry, or sad even, he could just shut it off and be done with it, even if for just a while. And that's precisely what he had done in that moment.

"Ok Cole, you need a game plan." He whispered to himself. He grabbed a pen and a random piece of paper from his bag and wrote down a sort of Changing bucket list, you could call it.
On it he he three resolutions.
*Get a super cool well paying job. [Maybe a video game tester or something.]
*Find out what causes The Changing and why it's early. Try and stop it.
*Make myself a sandwich, I'm pretty hungry.

What the actual f was that.

Suggested Title: The Changing
Genre: Adventure
Possible Spin-offs: I'm thinking Cole gets to like a magical world or something, kinda like mini-gods that control people's lives. Maybe he finds out that a he was supposed to die early or something, that's why he was early. Now he must go back to earth and do whatever he dreams of, however he has a chaperone or something. So they end up together and go soon fun adventures, until he has to die. But. He dies happy.
