2116
A full century since the explosions that left earth uninhabitable. When the nuclear war started, people knew things would get ugly, but no one expected uninvolved countries to be hit with air strikes left right and centre. Innocent people were dying and all the big man had to do was push a button.
No one thought it would get any worse until Russia decided they would single handedly bomb every country in the world. The result, nuclear radiation, people were dying like flies. The United States of America decided it was time to reveal a top secret project. They had successfully managed to get people living on mars, these people had grown plants and somehow make mars a second earth. Though it was not the same, it was good enough. The US made the decision to send only a small fraction of the earth's population to mars. Why? Transporting more than a hundred thousand people on a twenty billion dollar space shuttle would be impossible. As much as the government's of the world claimed that the picking of people to come with was completely random, everyone knew only the rich were going. If you didn't have a none digit number in your bank account or impeccable status, chances were you were going to die on earth like the majority.
People were chosen, the shuttle was launched, hope gone, lives were lost.
The shuttle landed on mars and for the first seventy years all was good, the humans thought they were smart. They thought they won the lottery. That was until they discovered they weren't the only species that lived on mars. The much contemplated idea of Martians was confirmed. Let me correct you, they do not have green skin and gigantic heads with black almond eyes. They were nothing like any human had every seen or dreamt to imagine. They looked skinny and frail at first with pale eggshell skin and bulging brown golf balls for eyes.
The humans didn't know that these seemingly harmless creatures had just woken up from their century long hibernation period. They went to sleep leaving a carbon dioxide rich atmosphere and a planet that completely belonged to them. They woke up to a planet with suffocating oxygen, green things covering the surface and creatures roaming the planet like they owned it. They were not happy. They were treated like second class citizens on their own planet.
When the humans tortured these aliens, being completely accurate the humans were the aliens but anyway, they did not know that these so called aliens just needed to get back to their full strength and size after hibernation. And when they did, they were no longer to be pushed around.
That one fateful day they practically tripled, correction, quadrupled in size. Their petite figures had enlarged and their biceps alone could have been the size of an average human. The humans were enslaved and the tables had turned.
We had been living like this for twenty seven years, until my father started a resistance three years ago. I was only fifteen then,I was a naïve and scared boy, but a lot can change in three years. The resistance is small but we do not go unnoticed. Our mission is not to create human domination on a planet that is not ours, but rather a co-existence between us and the *insert cool alien name. Just Martians would do too*.

Suggested title: 2116 ( I'm at a loss for cool creative title, I apologize)
Genre: Sci-Fi (or something. I suck and deciphering genres)
Possible spin-offs: I might sound evil, but I'm thinking kill of the dad somewhere along the line and maybe add a possible love interest. Make it like a Sci-Fi romance, you feel? Also maybe have like one of the aliens be working with the resistance. I don't know, go wild.Back to the thinking room
