I was taking her to her to have lunch with me and my family. I pulled into our two car garage. I turned off the car and we came out. I led her into the house through the door in the garage. My dad and brother had gotten home from church a while ago. Ricky was in the kitchen setting the table while my dad was putting the finishing touches on Sunday lunch. "Hello." Dad said as we came into the house. "Hi" Krista said. Dad washed his hands and dried them and went to speak with Krista. "You must be Krista. I'm Joshua's dad. You can call me Henry." They shook hands. Krista smiled brightly.
We all sat around the round wooden kitchen table. "So how did you and Joshua meet?" Dad asked. "We met at the coffee shop I work at."
"Oh. What's the name of it?"
"Jessie's"
"Ohhh I love that place. I haven't been in a while. Maybe I'll stop by."
"That would be great. I'll even give you a discount if you want."
"Oh. I'll definitely be coming then" dad chuckled. The rest of the time we talked about church and high school. It turns out that Kris was an amazing cheerleader. She showed us some of her videos on YouTube. "Wow. You're amazing." I say. "Thanks." She said and smiled. When we were done eating everyone got up and went their separate ways. Ricky played on his Xbox and dad went in his room. Krista went to the bathroom and I had to make a call for work. I stepped out on the back patio and spoke to the assistant manager at the hardware store.
When I came back in I saw Ricky and Krista on the couch together playing on Ricky's Xbox. "You're not gonna win. I don't know why you're even trying." Rick said. "Sure Ricky. When I win don't go crying to J because a girl whooped you at your own game." I stood there watching in awe. They continued playing. I don't think they realized that I was here.
I go to my room and lay on my bed. I can't help but think about how lucky I am to Krista in my life. She is so beautiful and smart and funny. Even if I don't have her as a girlfriend, it would be so great to have her as a friend. My phone made a knocking sound interrupting my thoughts. I got a message. It was from Brian.
Brian: hey dude. We're all going out for ice cream. You wanna come?
Me: sure. Lemme ask Krista if she wants to come.
Brian: Alright. See you in a few.I went back into the living room. "Better luck next time Krista." Ricky said whole holding out his hand. "Yeah yeah whatever Ricky." She said as she shook his hand. She looked up and saw me and she smiled her beautiful smile. "Hey" she said. "Hey. A bunch of my friends are going out for ice cream. You wanna come?"
"Yes! I've been craving ice cream"
"Great"We left the house and went to the ice cream shop.
