Krista. Krista. Krista. She's amazing. I realized that these thoughts weren't very rational because of the fact that I just met her but there was just something about her. She was very independent and mature but sweet and funny at the same time. I walked toward my house. It was a small three bedroom house. I live with my dad and my little brother Ricky. He's 17-years-old and a pain in my butt. I unlock the front door and go inside.
"Honey I'm home!" I holler into the house.
"Shut up J. You're not important." Ricky says as he passed me to go into the kitchen. "You're the reason I have self esteem issues." I said and began to fake cry. Ricky rolled his eyes at me as he bit into the apple he got from the fridge.I walked into my room and it was a total mess. It looked like a tornado hit. There were clothes all over the floor and candy wrappers on my bed, half full water bottles laying around. I decided to clean my room and make it spotless for a change. I blasted my favorite song Nuthin' by Lecrae and danced around my room while I picked up clothes and put things in the trash. I had bent down to pick up my television remote and I look up to see Ricky with his phone in hand recording me dance - cleaning. When I saw him he burst out in laughter. "Ha ha ha. Very funny Ricky." I said unamused. He put down his phone and said "The real reason I came in here is to tell you that Levi's birthday party is tomorrow afternoon and his mom invited us."
"Oh yeah. Do you know if it would be okay if I brought a friend?"
"Do know. Don't care. Ask them yourslef."
I shook my head and continued cleaning as he walked away. Ricky used to be such a sweet kid. Now he's just...I don't even know. I decided to call Levi's family to see if I could bring Krista to the party. Levi is one of the kids from my church. He is turning 9-years-old tomorrow.I finished cleaning my room and called Mrs. Anderson. She said that it was okay if I brought a friend. Should I text Kris or call her? Texting is too informal but if I call her I don't want to come on too strong....I think I'm gonna call her...but maybe...
I can't seem to make up my mind so I call her before I chicken out. The phone rings 4 times before she picks up.
"Hello " she says.
"Hi. How are you?"
"I'm good. How about you?"
"I'm good. I called to see if you are going to be busy tomorrow afternoon."
"I have the morning shift tomorrow so I should be free in the afternoon."
"Okay. Great. Do you want me to pick you up from Jessie's or from your house?"
"You can pick me up from Jessie's. May I ask where we are going?"
"No. It's a surprise." I smiled.
"Oh come on J! Can I at least get a hint?"
"Okay okay. One word. Face paint."
"That's two words." She laughed
"Listen okay. I'm not having this argument with you." I chuckled
She giggled "Okay."
"I'll see you tomorrow then."
"See ya tomorrow"
I hung up the phone and I stared at it smiling like a weirdo.I took a quick shower, got dressed and headed down to the church for youth group tonight. Youth group was always so amazing. Every Friday night we encountered the presence of God and teenagers give their lives to Lord. It's a great place to be. I hope I can bring Kris sometime soon.
