"So...how has your day been so far?" He asked me sounding very genuine. "It's been good. How about you?"
"It was okay. Work was a little bit crazy."
"Oh. Where do you work?"
"I work at the hardware shop about 3 blocks from here."
"Ohh okay."
There was a minute or so where we didn't talk. We just walked. It wasn't awkward though. It was very comfortable. He broke the silence "I have a question"
"I have an answer" I replied
He smiled at my response and then he asked "Why did you agree to go out with me? I mean I'm glad you did but I could be some crazy stalker killer guy"
"Well...I didn't think about that. I was thinking about how sweet you seem and how I need to do something a little more adventurous for a change."
"So you're saying your life is boring?"
"No..............yes."
He laughed "What do you do regularly?"
"Eat. Sleep. Go to work. Watch TV."
"Oh wow. I thought you were ovexaggerating"
He chuckles a bit and we approach a bench inside the park. We sit down. I take my warm chocolate chip muffin out of the brown paper bag I had. I don't know what it is about him but he makes me feel safe and comfortable. I could tell that he's different from most guys.
"What's your favorite color?" He asks
"Blue. What's yours?"
"Purple"
"Isn't that a girl color?" I ask jokingly.
"No. It's the manliest color of all"
"Is manliest a word?" I chuckle
"If it wasn't a word before, it is now" I laughed at this statement.I feel like I've known him my whole life. Maybe he just reminds me of someone. "Do you wanna hear something kinda crazy?" He asks me. "Sure." I say as I take another bite out of my muffin. "I feel like I can be myself with you and I don't feel that way with ve Is that strange?" I just sat there staring at him in awe. "No. I think it's really sweet" I said. He just looked at me and smiled. "You're really beautiful." My cheeks started to get warm and I knew I was probably turning pink. I looked down at my lap and then mumbled out a quick thank you before looking up again. When I looked up, he was there looking deep into my eyes. He was looking at me like I was the most beautiful thing he's ever seen in his life. I couldn't help but stare back. I started to blush again but I was being held captive by his gaze and couldn't look away. I realized how close our faces had become and I guess he realized it too and he pulled back. He looked at his wrist. He had on an apple watch. "What time do you have to be back at work?" He asked. I looked at the watch I had on "in about 7 minutes"
"We should start heading back then"
We threw out our trash in the nearby garbage bin and headed back to Jessie's.On the walk back he asked me more questions about myself. He asked about where I grew up and my favorite places to go.
We were standing in front of Jessie's and for some reason I didn't want to say bye.
"We should do this again" I say.
"Yeah. We should. I had a great time." He relpied.
"Next time we have to talk about more about you because I feel like I barely know anything about you except that your favorite color is a girl color." I smirk. He chuckles. "We've been over this a million times, purple is the manliest color ever." I laughed a little bit too hard and he was just amused my my amusement. I started to turn to walk inside but he gently touches my shoulder so I turn back around "I hate to be a buzz kill but I have no way of contacting you."
"Ohh okay. Hand me your phone" I put my number in his phone. I send myself a text with a whole bunch of random emojis. When I give him back his phone, he looks at the screen and smiles. "Well I'll talk to you later then?" He asks. "Definitely." I say and I walk into Jessie's.
