Nightmares
Soft smoke rose from the side of my bed,
Along with a silent scream of horror at a scarred head.
It was bobbing to and fro,
But simply wouldn't just go.
I tried closing my eyes,
And pray for its demise,
But it wouldn't budge,
And I, too scared to give it even a slight nudge,
Curled in my cave,
released water saved,
From my terror-filled eyes,
Then was given a surprise.
The head had left without a goodbye,
And you were there, and with a sigh,
Came to lay beside that trembling girl,
And promised her a safe world.
