I've only seen Ian once since our little detention accident. Lucky for me he didn't try to make my life a living hell. Probably because when I did see him last week he was with my brother. He smirked and gave me a small nod when he saw me. Which I thought was a little weird. But then again boys don't hold grudges, right?
"So me and Micah are throwing a party this weekend." Emily said. I don't know what she said after that because I toned her out. She really talked a lot. I now know why my brother said good luck when he first found out I was hanging with cheerleaders. Hanging with them wasn't so bad really. People I didn't know greeted me in the hallway.
While in thought my eyes wondered over to the table my brother sat at. I was surprised to see Ian staring at me already. He didn't even try to break contact when I caught him staring.
"What do you think Storm?"
"About what?" I said breaking eye contact with Ian and turning my attention towards Emily.
"Jesus Christ Storm. have you been listen to anything?"
"Yeah." I said twirling my straw around in my pop.
Emily looked skeptically for a minute then continued. "Lacey parents are in the middle of an nasty custody battle and she had to go stay with her Godmother in New York until things are settled."
I looked around the tabled and was surprised that Lacey wasn't at the table. I have been so consumed in my own thoughts I hadn't even noticed her absence.
"We want to know if you could join the squad." Jessie said.
"Yeah it would mean so much to us." Emma added.
"Haha" I laughed nervously. "Tell me you guys are kidding."
"We need at least 7 girls to compete at nationals." Toni said.
"I'm pretty sure there are a hundred other girls who dream of being a cheerleader in this school." I said in disbelief at what they just asked.
"Please Storm?" Halle said pouting.
"You know we don't talk to anyone else besides you." Emily said.
"Yeah, your the first person to even sit at this table who wasn't a cheerleader." Hailey said.
I took a deep breath. I felt like such a hypocrite. For years I always laughed at girls who were into things like cheerleading competitions. Now I'm friends with a group of cheerleaders and was about to become one.
"Fine, I'll do it."
All of the girls cheered and said thank you. The girls closest to me hugged me.
"Practice is today after school." Emily said with a wide smile.
"Today? I can't." I said
"Why?"
"I have music practice today." I said acting sad. Even though I loved going to music practice.
"Well, can't you call off or say your sick or something?" Emily said searching her mind for a good excuse.
"Nope my mother would kill me." I lied standing and picking up my tray.

I walked up the stairs to Ms. Quinn house. Before I could knock the door flew open.
"Oh Storm dear you scared me." The tall middle aged woman said. She had on her red sun glasses with a grey skirt and black shirt. Her brown hair was pinned to the back.
"Hello Ms. Quinn are you ready for rehearsal?" I asked happily.
"God I forgot today is Tuesday. Look Storm Honey." She looked down at her watch. "I have an very important meeting I have to be at. I'll be back in about an hour and a half."
