The atmosphere surrounding the 15th section was and dull and gloomy as usual, the night was cold and dark with nothing but the bright moon beams illuminating the starless night sky. The only sounds to pierce the peaceful night air were the playful chants of children at the other end of the section.
My walk home from the abandoned park was peaceful, and a small smile found its way to my face when I saw people in massive sweaters still shivering as they walked by. They looked at me curiously as I strode along in nothing but my jeans and white wife beater, however immediately they made eye contact with me I turned away quickly and increased my pace to get home. My mom would definitely kill me if she knew that I left the house like this ; she said nobody was supposed to know that I was different, but it wasn't exactly my fault. And besides, if you practically had electricity flowing through your veins then there'd be no point for shit like sweaters. Also, sweaters are for old people.
It was however absolutely hell to live a life completely different from everyone else although that was what I'd been cursed to endure. My mum had tirelessly tried to explain why I was like this to me but I just never could understand.
She had said something about the human race evolving a step further into the unknown, however instead of an erect spine, a tail or a sixth finger we were able to get telekinesis . It didn't quite stop there because apparently some people had some how managed to evolve two steps ahead of the rest of the human race, of course, the only evidence we had of such people was your very own Theo Darkwood (that's me in case you were wondering).
The madness still didn't stop at me because there were still some anomalies who had not evolved at all which were as fate would have it the people who were the ones that made up our government.
What a messed up world (cue dramatic sigh).

Anyway, I was in the middle of my quiet walk home when I unfortunately had to pass the Alvarez's house, which was just a few blocks away from mine. Their house annoyed me immensely for many reasons, one of them being that it was too damn colourful, it was huge as well, which meant that it took too much space on the street. Ordinarily that wasn't allowed but they seemed to have gotten away with it. The stairs that led to their front door was were a series of platforms that hovered above the ground, but that wasn't the part that bugged me, it was the fact that as you took a step on them each one would produce the same sound as a particular key of the piano such that by the time you reached the top you'd have just played Beethoven's famous piece of the stairs. At first I thought it was pretty cool, but I've heard that shit about a hundred times too many. So now its just frustrating.
I had almost successfully made it home without having to talk to anyone or without being followed by one of the nine stupid Alvarez brothers, but unfortunately that night was full of multiple unwanted scenarios. At first I thought it was my mind playing tricks on me when I heard someone yell, but as I got closer to the little alleyway between two houses the screams were getting louder. Being the good citizen I was , I clueless ignored whoever it was, 'they probably deserved whatever it was' I thought shrugging. Though my thoughts changed as I heard the person screaming my name for help,
"Please shut up", I murmured to myself as I stopped for a minute.
"Come on Theo. I know you heard me," the voice pleaded. Only then did I realize it was Richardo Alvarez , the towns infamous prankster, who just so happened to be the same guy who got me in trouble a couple of months ago.
'Maybe I could have a little fun with this' I thought while rubbing my knuckles all evil like.
I backtracked into the alleyway quietly only then noticing how dark it actually was, it took a while for my eyes to adjust to the darkness that I was currently enveloped by, unfortunately immediately I did a fist came straight to my face, it hit me before my brain could properly process that I'd ever even seen it causing me to loose my balance and fall hard on my butt, the silence is then snatched away by a very annoyingly familiar laugh.
