Just kidding!😊Chapter 11
"RUN!" Cisco's shout came out of nowhere. I turned and saw him running towards us. His usual mischievous smile was gone and in its place was fear. Xella had already started it running but for some reason, I couldn't get my legs to move. I just froze."Mae! Run! They're coming!" He shouted again but I still didn't move. He drew closer and grabbed my hand, pulling me along with him. Then my legs decided to come back from their little vacation and I started running with him. Soon, we caught up with Xella. And when I meant we, I meant Cisco. He was pretty fast.
So gym class had really paid off.
We dashed through the auditorium, our sneakers squeaking on the polished floor, towards the secret back entrance (not the one Mr. Allen and the others had used) we had noticed when we were scoping out the places and spying on the White Hats. We stopped in front if the door and tried pushing and pulling the door but to no avail.
"Guys look." Xella pointed and we saw another keypad. I frowned and Cisco groaned.
"Great. Just great. Another stupid keypad." I moaned.
"I'm starting to think they don't trust us." Cisco said, mock hurt.
And he was back. The funny, stupid Cisco.
"Seriously? What gave it away? The millions of guards or the fact that we were always given drugs to keep us dumb?" I drawled and rolled my eyes at him.
"Oh please, like . . ." Cisco started but Xella interrupted him.
"How about you guys do this stupid argument another time when we aren't being hunted down and people aren't trying to kill us?" Xella half-yelled.
"Well, someone's not in a good mood." Cisco said.
"Is she ever?" I whispered to Cisco and he laughed but quickly covered it to with a cough when he saw Xella's eyes on him. However, she heard me and shot me a hard glare which I studiously ignored
"Where are they?!" A voice shouted from outside, echoing round the auditorium. I jumped and my heart raced in my chest.
"We don't know. I saw one running away from the control room but he was pretty fast so I couldn't catch up to him." Another man answered.
"So there are three places they could probably hide in." The first man paused. "The music room, janitor's closet or the auditorium."
"What do we do now, sir?" A woman asked.
"Spread out men and search the areas I just mentioned. If nothing is found, meet me back at the auditorium." The first man ordered. The rest stomped their feet.
"Sit, yes sir." They chorusd . I heard the stomps of their feet as they marched out. I turned to look at Xella and Cisco. Their faces were etched deeply with terror, mirroring my own facial expression. I pushed past Xella and keyed the first series of number that popped into my head.
"3-0-1-1." I mumbled as I pressed the buttons.
ACCESS DENIED, it read.
"Let me try." Xella whispered. She keyed in a bunch of numbers. It made that rejection sound and flashed "ACCESS DENIED."
