Hi guys. Sorry if this chapter is too long but there are some vital information that needs to be written. Thanks for understanding.
Chapter 6
I dropped the stack of books in my arms on the polished, black wooden table a tad bit aggressively and some books at the top, toppled over and fell on the marble floor with loud thuds. The students in the library gave me strange looks.
'What?!', I wanted to shout at them, 'It wasn't as if you've been having a bad day.' But I didn't shout it out or else they would think I was crazy.
And I am NOT crazy!
And who told you this? That you are not crazy? The girl in the mirror you were talking to? My inner voice laughed. Me and her don't get on well.
Today was the worst day of my life. My bad luck day. This morning started off with me almost getting caught by the White Hats because I accidentally-on-purpose didn't take my slimy. I think that man is still onto me. Then in the dining hall, I slipped and fell. Yeah, that happened and the whole room laughed and I was embarrassed yet again. After eating, I had to run to the elevator to get to my class. Upon entering the elevator as the last person, the elevator doors closed and the hem of my grey polo shirt got stuck in between. So I had to tug on the shirt and I bumped into the people behind me who in return, shot me glares.
Well long story short, I was 10 minutes late to class and for my punishment, I had to research on the Government's history which was why I was here in the library.
I groaned inwardly and picked up the books. I glanced at the digital clock on the wall which was now flashing 17:30pm.
One and a half more hours till dinner, I thought. But then, I had nothing to look forward to.
I pulled out a high-cushioned chair and sat down. Looking around, my eyes settled on the librarian, a woman (and a Grim like the rest of the staffs in the Facility Wing) with ageing grey, short hair, brown eyes and black clothes -from top to bottom (also what Facility Wing staff wore)- who was seated at the head of the library, next to the entrance.
They weren't really called Grims. We just called them that because of their mean and angry nature. So be warned.
The librarian had on black, thick-rimmed reading glasses. Her brows were knitted together and she chewed on her pen cover as she read a book. Something a little bit above her upper lip caught my attention.
Something big, circular, dark, disgusting and hairy.
The 'thing' was nasty and looked like it would rather be anywhere else but on her face. I could spot few strands of hair on it. I think she sensed someone looking at her because she looked up from her book and -surprise, surprise- her gaze met mine. I couldn't look away because curiosity took the better of me and I wanted to know what was on her face. With her face up, I noticed she had some weird writing inscribed on her right cheek. It looked really painful. On her neck was the same weird inscribing only this time, it was a drawing. It took me some seconds to realize that it was the logo of the Enclave.
The librarian's facial expression changed from confusion to annoyance to anger.
Oh boy, I was in deep shit now.
Look away, my inner voice whispered sharply. But I didn't hear because I was too busy panicking. She'll know I didn't take my meds and then she'll call the White Hats who will cart me off and probably kill me.
Breathe, Mae.
She's still looking! Ahhh . . . . no! Stop looking!
Fool, she can't hear you, my inner voice said, stating the obvious.
