"So we have a plan," Mae sighed, the satisfaction evident on her face.
"Finally!" Cisco said and pumped his fist in the air.
I, on the other hand, barely even twitched my lips into a smile.
"You know, it wouldn't hurt to smile once in a while," Mae told me and I scoffed.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," I said, waving off the subject.
"Okay, so we have a plan..." Cisco said.
"That I know has a loophole somewhere," I added.
"Xella!" Mae whined.
"What?!" I shot back. "These guys are everywhere and there's only three of us-"
"Would you like us to stay here instead and be used for experiments that can kill us?" Mae asked and I didn't answer. "Exactly."
"Um, okay," Cisco said after a while. "Well, any questions about it?"
We all exchanged thoughtful looks and Mae spoke up after a little while.
"Um...the part where we stun the White Hats? What do we stun them with?" she asked.
"Uh..." Cisco started, thinking hard.
"Trays," I said.
"What?" Mae asked.
"Trays," I said louder. "We could use trays to stun them," I explained further.
"Yeah, but trays from where?" she asked.
I glared at her. Even Cisco frowned at her and all she did was stare around oblivious to the trays that were right on the table in front of her.
"Really, Mae?" I asked and she shrugged. "There are three trays right in front of you! Or where else could trays be? The library? Or would they be in the music room?"
"There's a possibility," she said and I sighed.
"You know what? I'm done. I'd rather be brainwashed all my life than sit here and listen to this," I said and made to stand up.
"No, no. Xella, please sit," Cisco said and I glanced at him.
"Why should I?"
"We're so close to escaping. To being free. Don't let our shared belief of Mae's stupidity disturb you," Cisco offered and I gave it a second thought.
"Hey!" Mae protested and hit Cisco upside the head. "I'm right here."
"I know. That's why I said it," he said with a grin.
Mae turned red with anger. She glanced around and, seeing as no one was watching, stomped heavily on Cisco's foot. Cisco was about to scream, but she clasped her hand down on his mouth firmly.
"Next time, be careful who you treat like that," she warned and Cisco muttered profanities into her hand.
She suddenly jerked her hand back and started wiping it on her sweatpants.
"Ewwwwwww!" she screamed and Cisco smirked.
"And next time, you be careful whose mouth you put your hand over," he said with a satisfied grin.
I watched them the entire time, not sure whether to insult them or just be generally rude.
"I guess that's a 'yes'?" Cisco asked and, I don't know why, but I nodded. "Cool. So when exactly does this plan happen?"
"In three days time?" Mae offered and I shook my head.
"That'll give them more time and, in that time, they could either change the pattern or they could find out our plan. Either way, the result won't be good," I said.
