SKYLAR'S POV

Monday...

"Skylar! Get up and get ready for school!" my mom says while pounding on my bedroom door.

I roll my eyes and then get out of my bed. I take a shower and after that I put on some shorts that stop right above knee with simple black T-shirt. I brush out my hair and leave it down and wavy. I look under my bed and pull out my black vans along with a red flannel shirt.

"How did that get under there?" I say to myself.

I put on my shoes and stand up with the red flannel still in my hands. I realize it's not mine.

It's Jace's...

He must've left it here the last time we had a sleep over. We always had the best sleep overs. I'd always fall asleep first and wake up covered in whipped cream. I miss that. I tie the flannel around my waist and walk out of my bedroom.

I walk downstairs and into the kitchen. I pour myself a bowl of cereal and eat it at the counter. My mom walks in the kitchen.

"Good Morning Skylar, hurry up and eat so you won't be late for school." My mom says.

I can't believe she actually thinks I'm going to school.

I quickly finish eating my cereal and wash out my bowl. I run upstairs and grab my bookbag and phone out of my room. I go outside and get into my mom's car. She starts the car. I pull out my phone and text Hunter.

Skylar: Hey. My mom is dropping me off at school rn. Meet me at Westwood high.

Hunter: k i'll be there.

I put my phone in my pocket and soon we arrive at my school.

"Bye mom." I say opening the door.

"Wait,"

I turn towards my mom. "Yeah?"

She sighs. "I'm sorry for making you go to school. I really just want the best for you. I know you're still upset about losing your best friend and I really just wanna be there for you. After school we can do whatever you want to get your mind off of Jace. Have a nice day honey, I love you."

I smile. "I love you too."

I get out of the car and start walking towards the school. I stop and wave at my mom while I watch her car drive away. I almost feel bad for what I'm about to do. My mom just poured her feelings into my hands and I'm about to disobey her. What have I become?

Soon a big black truck pulls up and the window rolls down revealing Hunter's grinning face. I look behind me before quickly bolting off and getting into his car.

I reach over my shoulder to look for the seat belt but I realize their isn't one. "What happened to the seatbelt?" I ask.

Hunter starts the car and starts driving. "I cut them out. Rebels don't wear seatbelts."

I nervously laugh. "Uh umm cool." Hunter gives me such an uneasy feeling, but for some reason I kind of like it. Half of the car ride is awkwardly silent until I decide to start a conversation. "Where are we going?"

Hunter's eyes stay on the road. "My house." He mumbles.

I nod my head and look out of the window. This neighborhood is extremely familiar. As in my best friend lives in this neighborhood familiar.

We pull up to a white house and Hunter gets out of the car. I get out of the car and follow him to his front door. We walk in and I'm immediately hit by the smell of cigarette smoke. Loud music is playing and there's alot of teenagers dressed in all black standing around.
