"Up ahead." Claire cooed from her car.
A small convoy was ahead of the group with small armoured vehicles surrounding a truck. She reached into her backseat and grabbed the weapon from before. "This'll only take a second." She said with confidence.
She stood back up on the roof of the car, and she aimed the gigantic weapon at the center vehicle. It began charging up, extending, and finally, a rocket flew out of the front of the gun. It flew over to the convoy and struck the vehicle directly behind the middle truck.
The truck had it's back door ripped off, and the vehicle that received a direct hit was ripped apart and obliterated. But what shocked the group was what was inside the truck.
What seemed to be a giant bomb sat in the middle of the truck's carrage. Then, Alex remembered about the transportation of nuclear bombs to San Fransisco.
"DON'T FIRE!! THAT'S A NUKE!!" Alex screamed over to the other car where Claire prepared her next reload. She looked over, confused, and slipped on the roof of her car. Her gun flew through the sun roof into the passenger's seat, but she barely grabbed onto the side of the sun roof.
"CLAIRE!!!" Preston screamed.
Alex payed attention to the road ahead, seeing that some armoured cars began to back up and drive towards their truck.
Alex handed Kathy the assult rifle. "Take aim and fire. Aim for the windows." Alex looked through the panel behind him. "Get ready guys."
He looked back at the road, and swerved out of the way to avoid the debris of the previously destroyed car. He looked over at Claire, who had managed to pull herself from her dangling position and get herself in her car. She looked over at Alex. "How do you know?" She questioned before battling the Bandits.
"There was a radio broadcast earlier about mobilizing a nuclear device." Alex told her. They both quickly escaped their conversation and focused on the convoy. One armoured truck had a machine gun on the back, and a man was climbing up for the job. "Fire." Alex commanded Kathy.
She fired her assult rifle and hit the man square in the forehead, causing his body to fall down into the bed of the truck. She fired again through the back window of the Bandit's car, but missed the driver and the passenger.
One truck of the convoy backed up and came closer to the group's truck. They didn't have machine guns attached to them, but their drivers did. They rolled their windows down and aimed their weapons directly backwards. They were about fifty meters in front of the group's truck, but it was close enough to strike the shattered remains of the windshield. A rocket fired from Claire's car, and the attacking vehicle was blown to bits, rolling towards the side of the road, away from the group.
There were six armoured vehicles left, and the untouchable center truck. Two more came back, one with it's machine gun blazing at Claire's car. It tore apart the windshield, but luckily Preston had ducked, so the bullets struck the seat.
Claire responded with the usual rocket, obliterating one, but the other was getting closer and closer to the group's truck. Alex decided to slam on the gas, ramming the armoured truck from behind. Kathy aimed out her window and managed to strike the passenger in the car. Claire emerged from her sun roof with, not her rocket, but a grenade in her hand. She mouthed the words BACK OFF, and chucked the grenade into the bed of the armoured truck.
Alex backed his truck further backwards while the enemy truck exploded, blasting bits and pieces of metal everywhere. Alex barely managed to dodge the debris as the next armoured truck began to back up. Claire reached for her rocket, took aim, and...
"SHIT! It's empty!" She screamed. She threw the rocket out the sun roof in anger, causing it to roll off her car and smash into the moving asphalt below. This didn't stop her from trying again, for she came back out with a machine gun, blazing away at the oncoming vehicle. She must've struck the driver, for the car veered out of control and struck the wall seperating the highway from a small street.
The final two drove backwards, and had two machine gunners on their backs. They both took aim at the group's truck and Claire's car, and were about to begin firing, but Kathy and Claire managed to fire rounds from their machine guns at both men.
However, one still shot out of it's gun as it was dying. The line of bullets found it's way to Claire's car. They made a line from the front of the hood to the beginning of the windshield. Preston didn't duck in time. Bullets began making their way into his skull, causing blood to explode as his life ended in an instant.
Claire screamed as she grabbed a hold of the wheel. Kathy shot one of the armoured truck's wheels off, causing them to slow down. Kathy lined up a shot, took it, and discombobulated the driver, causing him to crash his car into the wall. She also shot the second car's driver, stopping the vehicle.
Claire continued screaming as she maneuvered past the crashing cars. She continued driving however, and she was determined to kill the driver of the truck with the bomb. She drove ahead of Alex's truck and towards the enemy's truck.
Alex saw her approach the truck, and fire hundreds of bullets into the cabin of the truck, stopping the truck instantly. She slammed on the brakes, so Alex pulled up next to her and stopped their truck.
Kathy looked out her window and gasped. Claire was on her knees with the horribly bloodied body of Preston in her hands. His head, mangled, and her heart, shattered.
