Alex motioned to the group to back out of the building and head back onto the street, for he couldn't tell how many there were, but there were more than he could count by the amounts of groans he made out. He heard a louder groan from his front and fired rapidly.

Him firing sent the rest of the group out the front door of the building they entered, and the groans getting louder. The zombie that was closest was shot in the chest, and it collapsed to the ground as another zombie took it's place.

Alex turned around and started running. He could barely make out the names of the street because of the rays of sunlight barely seeping through the dense dust. He turned back to look at the building to see zombies climbing over each other to get out of it.

The group instantly shot at the clogged door from their seperate parts of the intersection. The zombies' bodies expoded with blood as they were pelted with a barrage of bullets. Their bodies went limp and fell through the door as more zombies attempted to push through to get to the group.

"We need to head south!! It's this way!!" Alex pointed into the direction he remebered as being south, to the left of the financial district.

They began running, but kept tripping and stumbling over debris laying on the ground and poorly made barricades. It was a struggle, but it subsided when the dust finally settled and the road ahead was visible again. Alex examined himself and the group to see that they were covered in dust, and blended in quite nicly to the current surroundings.

Now, the sounds of gunshots entered back into the range of the group's eardrums. The group aimed their weapons where they heard the gunfire from, and saw that two groups of people were fighting each other.

"Ignore it. The less conflicts we get into, the more chances of survival we have." Alex concluded and explained to the group.

However, groans were now becoming a more common sound, as the undead began to appear in windowsills and doorwards more so than before. In fact, this was beginning to look similar to Chicago, except no Bandits.

They continued, but noticed another group crossing the upcoming intersection going from east to west.

A massive explosion blinded the group as the people ahead of them were shredded to pieces by a possible minefield. Alex ducked behind a barricade so he wouldn't see the fire, but Claire and Angela weren't looking away.

"I can't see!" Claire yelled.

Alex grabbed Claire and pulled her down as George pulled Angela down as well. Alex looked behind them and saw that zombies were rushing out of buildings.  Chad, Alex, and Kathy quickly took notice and began firing at the upcoming horde.  They began to drop like flies, and Claire and Angela finally were able to see.  Alex knew that it was temporary.

"We move through one of these buildings and go around this intersection, not through."  Alex said.

"Good idea."  Darwin responded in almost perfect unison as Samantha.

Alex halted the group before entering a pitch black building.  He aimed inside and listened closely for any groans or signs of zombies.  He heard nothing, so the group continued forward into the building.

But within moments, a creak was heard from the floor above them, and Alex immediately directed his fire power directly upwards.  However, a loud groan was let out to Alex's right from a dimly lit room, and a zombie lunged out at Alex.  He quickly dodged it and shot the zombie's head off.

He continued walking down the hallway and constantly checked his sides and behind him to ensure that the group was still safe.

Upon finding the end of the building, they found the minefields that the sick people who put them there called streets.  Brittany grabbed a rock from a broken windowsill, and chucked it into the street.  The entire group hunched over to try to provide cover, but no explosion was set off.  Evidently the bombs had only been set in the intersection, and not the surrounding streets.

They quickly ran across the street and made it into the next building.  But they entered without checking what was inside the building before they got there.

A gigantic hole in the ceiling revealed a large group of zombies with blood and flesh hanging from their jaws, enjoying the conclusion of their last meal.

The group turned back and began running, eager to get away from the large horde of zombies. Since Brittany still had the most ammunition left on her gun, she stepped up to handle the zombies that rushed out of the demolished building. Brittant sweeped them with ease, making them trip over the corpses of their fallen brethren.

She turned around and let out a big grin of achievement. Alex walked forward and delivered a subtle pat on the back before rushing back forward through the building.

The entire building had been cleared. The small area that the zombies had eaten their last meal didn't look like that bad of a place to set up.

Alex kicked the bones and blood of the last victim to fall prisoner to the zombies, and sat himself down. The group followed and sat around the ray of light that shone right in the middle of the room. When everyone was seated, Alex was the first to speak.

"The last street I saw was Jackson Street. How far are we from the wharf?" Alex asked Darwin, who had already set the map in the center of the circle.

"We're not that far from it. But the only problem is what and who we run into on the way there. Once we get to the wharf there's no telling how crowded and chaotic the crowd will be. But right now, we need to plan for the push to the wharf. We can rest here for about an hour, then make the final push to the pier. It's departing from pier 39? 33?"

"39." Alex stated. "I heard it through the radio."

"Sweet!" Darwin concluded. "Then we'll jus..."

He was cut off by the loud slamming of a boot, and a different machine sound that sounded oddly farmiliar. The sound of a flamethrower and the cry of a victim then came into realization.

There were Bandits in the city.
