"We need to use this time to prepare for another attack.  They won't just try once, and they might use different tactics, so we need to think of sonething new in order to handle them."  Alex told the members in the trailer.

"You could try maneuvering around again.  That seemed to work."  Angela proposed.

"You need a weapon of some sort.  Maybe we can find a dead guy with a gun of something."  George advised after his extended period of silence.

"Do whatever you think necessary."  Darwin told Alex.

Alex smiled at this and turned his attention to the road. He skillfully avoided debris that crowded the road, and kept an eye out for enemies.

"ALEX!" Kathy yelled. A car was driving in the same direction as the truck on their side of the road. It didn't look friendly. It had been torn apart and had broken windows all around it. Then again, their truck seemed much like that.

Alex didn't know whether to investigate them or get rid of them. But he kept his constant speed, for he needed to get to San Francisco faster. When he approached the car, he saw a man and woman, both with tattered clothes.

They looked over at Alex, and then he noticed that the woman had her hand on a shotgun. He drove the truck faster ahead of the car in order to avoid conflict. When Alex had driven past the car, he heard the driver scream, "HEY!"

Alex slammed on the gas even further and began driving further away from them. But they never fired their gun. Maybe they were still getting ready. Alex began to slow down the truck. Kathy reacted quickly to his sudden speed change. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING??" She screamed. "ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED?!"

"I have a plan." Alex said. "And it's not a crazy one."

When he slowed down the truck, the car pulled up right next to them, and Alex inspected the two strangers. The woman looked to be about 20 and had dried blood streaming down the right side of her face with her long blonde hair turned red in some spots. The man from what Alex could see was in his twenties, had a long scar along his cheek, and was bald.

"Why are you out here heading for San Francisco?" Alex popped the question first.

The woman looked at the man, and the man looked at the woman. The woman turned and said, "We're running away from the Bandits and getting out of the country.  We had gotten into a bettle with them and stole one of their cars.  And by the looks of your license plate, you're being hunted too."  She smirked.

"Yes.  We are getting out of the country as well, and we have tickets."  Alex proclaimed.

"Really?"  The woman said reaching into her bag.  She ripped out two tickets.  "So do we!"

Alex was relieved.  They had found an ally.  "Hey."  He called.  "Do you have any spare weapons?"

She looked up.  "Yes."  She reached into the empty backseat of their car.  "If we work together to get to San Francisco, maybe we can help each other out."

"Good."  Alex continued.  "'Cause we lost all the ammunition for our weapon, and we're defenseless."

The woman showed Alex an assult-rifle and extended her arm out of her window to give it to him.  He grabbed the gun in between the cars, and threw it back to Kathy.  The truck began to lose control, so Alex started paying attention to the road.

"I'm Claire, and this is Preston."  She said.

"I'm Alex, and this is Kathy."  Alex replied pointing to Kathy in the front seat.

They both looked forward.  But Alex noticed something in the distance.  It was a helicopter.

"Crap!  There's a helicopter!  Everyone..."  Alex began.

"No need for panic.  PRESTON!  You can drive this thing alright if I stand on top?"  Claire asked.

Preston nodded as she climbed on top of the car with a weapon strapped to her back.  She ripped it off her back, and a blue light appeared in the center of the machine.  It sprung to life by extending three feet behind her, and it grew a scope to aim.  Claire put her eye up to the scope, aimed for the helicopter, and fired.

A rocket shot out of the gun, flying directly towards the helicopter.  The helicopter dodged it, maneuvering out of the way, but the rocket was guided, and flew right back.  It struck the propellers and caused the helicopter to instantly explode.

Alex stared in awe of Claire.  She looked over at him.  "A little gun I stole from the Bandits.  Nothing much."  She jumped back into the car with a wink.
