"WAKE UP!!!!" A familiar voice screamed in Alex's face.
Alex quickly opened his eyes and saw Kathy with a gun in his face, the sounds of the other group members screaming in the background. "What's going on?!" Alex asked quickly rising. They had parked the truck at a rest stop to spend the night.
"THE ZOMBIES CAUGHT UP!! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!" She screamed. Suddenly, her body jerked upwards and the veins in her neck bursted. She grabbed onto Alex's leg until she was dragged out of the truck of the car by a zombie with bright blue eyes.
"NOOOO!!" Alex screamed as he held onto her hands for dear life. But it was too late. Her eyes began to switch color from a bright green color to a dark red color. He released her hands, and she was flung out of the truck and her head smashed into the concrete of the rest-stop parking lot; blood spraying all around.
Alex picked up the gun from the seat she dropped, avoiding bursting into tears. He blazed away the zombie that was still feasting on Kathy's flesh, causing the zombie to fall to the ground. He looked behind him, with tears beginning to form in the corner of his eye, he saw Darwin fighting off a zombie with an axe in his hand. He looked at Alex and screamed, "Alex!! Get out of here!!! I'm done for!! Don't worry about me!"
The axe broke in half upon hitting a zombie, and the zombie clamped onto Darwin's shoulder. Alex sceamed as be blazed down on the zombie attacking Darwin as the veins in his neck popped.
He jumped out of he truck and immediatly looked to the left to see a hoard running on it's way towards the front of the bus. Chad was in front of the group, but not infected. "WE NEED TO GO!!" Chad screamed to Alex.
Alex heard this, and immediately began running away from the hoard. He saw that there was a small building in the rest stop that seemed to have restraunts inside. The best zombie shelter in the area. He sprinted across the parking lot and noticed zombies appearing out of every corner of the rest stop, but not in the building.
But there was a figure in the building that could be seen.
Brittany.
She had her hand on a lever that would cause the gray shutters to shut down the entire building. Alex waved to her to ensure that she wouldn't shut it before he got there, and she held it open. Alex rushed to the door, opened it, and looked back for Chad.
Chad was still ahead of the zombie hoard, but he wasn't far ahead. Alex saw what happened next in slow motion.
A zombie came from Chad's side and blindsided him, sending Chad falling to the ground, dividing the zombie hoard into zombies devouring Chad, and zombies heading straight for Alex.
Alex slammed the door and got inside. He looked up at Brittany, whose eyes were wide open and watering. "SHUT THE DOOR!!" Alex yelled. Brittany was still frozen, so Alex jumped over to the lever, shutting the doors immediately, and activating the impenetrable shutters.
Alex backed away from the shutters, which were being battered by zombies. He then remembered that there were two other doors that needed to be shut.
"Brittany! Shut the door down the hall on the right!!" He demanded. He ran down the main hallway to the center of the building and took a left hand turn towards the door. I searched the nearby walls for a lever, and found it on the left hand wall. He immediately bit the switch and the shutters came down.
He looked behind him, and to his horror, the other door was still not shut down. "BRITTANY!! YOU FORGOT TO SHUT THE DOOR!" He screamed. He ran to the center of the building to check where Brittany was, and she was still where she stood.
He ran to her, and realized that he had made the wrong move. He heard the groan of zombies emerging from the other side of the building. "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!" He screamed, grabbing Brittany by the wrist.
They ran through the center of the building and looked to the un-shuttered door, where zombies were flooding into the building from. He followed the signs to the bathrooms, ran inside, and slammed the door.
When they had sat down behind the door, Brittany muttered, "Chad's dead."
"So is Kathy." Alex whispered.
"Chad is dead." She muttered again.
"WE HAVE TO GET OVER IT!" Alex yelled.
Zombies began slamming on the bathroom door, and Alex knew that it was over. He reached to his right for the gun, and found that it was missing. He had dropped it.
The door swung open, sending Brittany to the floor in front of the door, and Alex got wedged inbetween the door and the nearby wall. He watched as the zombies jumped on Brittany, ripping her arm apart. A zombie wrapped itself around the door and bit into his leg. An unimaginable pain ensued, and the corners of his eyes began to go red. He screamed in pain as he felt his neck popping and his vision going blind. All he could see was the color red blocking his view. And then, after ten seconds, all he could see was darkness.
Alex opened his eyes and looked around. He was still in the driver's seat of the truck next to Kathy, who was awake. He noticed that he was drenched in sweat, and was shaking.
"It's alright Alex, it's alright." Kathy said in a soothing voice. "It was just a bad dream."
