Emiko's POV
"Zabuza-sensei! Yuna is falling into an ambush!" I shouted as soon as I felt multiple chakra sources in front of us.
Zabuza nodded once, narrowed his eyes and increased his speed, Haku and I right behind him.
"Emiko, how many people can you sense?"
"Eight people including Yuna. Wait! Those people I sensed earlier are coming this way!"
"What?!" Zabuza growled.
"We can take care of them later. Zabuza-sensei, we need a plan, Yuna will be running into them any second now."
"Damn it... Haku, trap as many people as you can in your ice mirrors jutsu. I'll take care of the rest. Emiko, stay hidden and suppress your chakra, but be wary of the enemies approaching us. Now hurry!"
"Hai, Zabuza-sensei."
"Yes, Zabuza-sensei."
Within minutes we heard swords or kunai clashing against one another. We finally reached the battle field which was a clearing... Or what it used to be.
There were puddles, boulders and remains of earth-style jutsus all over the place, some trees were burnt down while other trees were still in flames and three men lying on the ground covered in blood. On my left Yuna was fighting against two men with her sharingan activated, all three of them using katana's. The other two men were sitting down behind a tree directly in front of us, one of them was using medical ninjutsu to heal his critically injured teammate.
"How strong are they? And when will the other ones get here?" Zabuza asked me.
"High chunin level, maybe low jonin level too... same as the ones who are approaching us. We have 20 minutes at most before they get here."
"Zabuza-sensei, I can take care of those two, you can go help Yuna." Haku whispered, analyzing the two enemies sitting opposite us.
"Okay. Go!" Zabuza whispered back before jumping in front of Yuna and blocking the two enemies' katana's with his sword.
Haku disappeared and an ice dome formed around the two men, successfully trapping them in. I turned back to Zabuza and Yuna, that's when I realized that Yuna was dangerously low on chakra and she had several cuts on her arms and a deep cut on her right leg.
Zabuza killed the two guys in one swift movement of his blade, turned to Yuna and carefully picked her up bridal style. He walked towards a boulder and gently sat Yuna down on it. I jumped down from the branch and ran towards them.
"Emiko, please go fill this bottle with water, there is a river nearby." Zabuza ordered me.
I took the bottle and ran towards a river I saw on our way here. I filled the bottle and ran back to my team. Zabuza took a cloth and poured some water on it, he then crouched in front of Yuna and slowly cleaned her wounds. I looked over at Haku, but he was still busy fighting the enemies in his ice dome.
"How did you know I was in trouble?" Yuna asked, slightly flinching while Zabuza was bandaging her leg.
"I'm a sensory type. Zabuza-sensei, those other enemies just stopped... Wait, they are not coming here anymore. They are going the opposite direction!" I gleefully said, silently thanking Kami.
"That's good, hopefully we won't be seeing them anytime soon. Yuna, good job in killing three men and critically injuring one. However, it was stupid of you to run off alone and taking on seven men on your own." Zabuza told Yuna, who just hn'ed and rolled her eyes.
Wow Zabuza, reprimanding your student directly after complimenting her? Just wow. I thought, sweatdropping.
"Yuna, are you okay?" We all turned around and saw Haku coming towards us, one of the men on his shoulder.
"I'll live."
"Is he alive?" Zabuza asked, eyeing the man.
"Yes, but I killed the other one. We could interrogate him and find out from which village they were. I noticed that they all have no forehead protectors and no clan symbols on their clothes." Haku explained, dropping him and tying him to a tree.
Zabuza gave Yuna a pill, "Take that pill, it will give you some chakra." and walked towards the unconscious man and Haku. "When will he wake up?"
"In a couple of hours."
"It's getting late, we'll camp here tonight. Emiko and I will keep guard."
~ Timeskip ~
"Zabuza-sensei, the man is waking up." I informed my team leader. Zabuza and I stood in front of the man, waiting for him to fully wake up. He blinked twice and looked around, when he felt a rope around him, he tried to get free.
"There is no use. Who are you and where do you come from?" Zabuza demanded, crossing his arms.
"I don't have to tell you my name nor where I come from. You can kill me for all I care." The man replied.
"Very well then." Zabuza said, untying the man and walking into the forest. The man tried to break free from Zabuza's strong grip, but it was futile. I quickly followed him, wondering what he was going to do.
"Emiko, go back. I don't want to scar your young, innocent mind." Zabuza said, tying the man to another tree far from our campsite.
What on earth is he going to do... I doubt he's going to chop the man into pieces... Unless he...
"You're going to torture him, aren't you."
"Correct." Zabuza smirked evilly, while the man's face contorted into one of pure terror.
I left Zabuza to deal with the man, but I couldn't deny that I was a bit scared... Okay, a lot scared when I saw the smirk on my sensei's face. Yet another reason why they call him Demon of the Hidden Mist. I involuntarily shivered, until I heard a bone chilling scream. I quickened my pace and covered my ears, jumped on a low branch when I reached the clearing and tried my best to calm down.
After what seemed hours of hearing faint, agonizing screams, everything went quiet. I concentrated and felt Zabuza's chakra getting closer. I couldn't sense any other chakra sources other than my team's.
"It's late, kid. Go to sleep." Zabuza said, appearing on a higher branch beside me.
"G-goodnight, Zabuza-sensei." I whispered, still a bit scared.
Why am I scared? This is the Shinobi World, things such as torture and interrogations are vital for the safety of one's village. I should stop being a scared little girl and get stronger, I'm the only weak one in the team. I'm a sensory type, but that's all I'm good at. Maybe I should improve my stamina and my taijutsu first, jutsus take really long to learn. As soon as we find the Hokage's friend and his granddaughter I'll ask Zabuza to train me.
With those thoughts in mind I made my way to my sleeping bag and made myself comfortable. I had a feeling that tomorrow was going to be a very eventful day.
Goodnight Jay, wherever you are, I hope to see you again.
