Interpol Headquarters ~ Kotoko Minami's POV

I woke up especially early today so I could meet the others at where they worked. I managed to sneak past the security at the entrance and get into what was called 'Q Branch'. I heard Ms. Detective call that guy with the glasses that name, Q, so I decided to go somewhere that was familiar to me. Is it bad that I can creep into high security places that middle school kids like me shouldn't be going near? Maybe.

"Kotoko-?!"

I sighed as I heard someone gasp my name. Mr. Q had caught me red handed and was swiftly walking towards me. "What are you doing here...?!" he whispered. "If someone sees you, they'll take you to M, and he won't be happy to see you!"

"But you've seen me, and you're not dragging me away to see Mr. M." I remarked with a smirk despite not knowing who Mr. M was. Mr. Q sighed, making me giggle. "Just answer my original question and tell me what you're doing here." he demanded.

"Duh, we're continuing the investigation today!" I cried, waving my arms about. "So I came here to meet you guys."

"You do realise you're breaking all kinds of laws right now, don't you?" Mr. Q asked. "Only authorised personnel can enter this building. People who actually have jobs here-"

"Is your name really Sebastian?" I asked, cutting him off. "I heard Fee-Fee calling you Sebastian, but Ms. Detective calls you Q, so I've been really unsure about what your name is."

"My real name hardly matters right now-!" Mr. Q objected. "When you address me, you address me as Q, okay?"

"Mr. Q sounds cuter." I pouted.

"... Fine. It's better than nothing." Mr. Q sighed.

"Is everyone here? Good."

Ms. Detective entered the room, her expression a lot more serious than it is normally. Fee-Fee was following her, stumbling slightly and looking nervous. I tugged on his sleeve to try and make him tell me what was wrong, but he shook his head with a small shrug. He had no idea.

"Over the course of last night," Ms. Detective began. "There were two more murders; Toney Giles and Penni Joyce. Ms. Joyce lived and was killed in her apartment building, while Mr. Giles was killed in his home. Ms. Joyce lived at Galleon Apartments-"

"Hey!" Fee-Fee cut in. "That's where I live!"

Ms. Detective and Mr. Q exchanged a weird glance. Both of them were frowning, but I didn't get why. "Anyway," Ms. Detective continued. "I conducted background checks on both of the victims and this time they share some kind of connection. According to my research, they were half-siblings. Ms. Joyce has two children, but they were always left in the care of Mr. Giles."

"Why?" I asked. "Why wasn't Ms. Joyce looking after her own children?"

"... She wasn't the most respectful of parents, to put it nicely." Ms. Detective replied. "She never much cared for them. She never did anything to support her brother in raising them, either."

"She sounds evil!" I hissed. My mommy is always nice to me, so why couldn't other mommies be nice to their kids? It didn't make any sense.

"If there were two victims, then let's split up!" Fee-Fee suggested. "Two of us investigate one scene, while the other two investigate the other crime scene. It's perfect! So, for example... me and Kotoko go to Ms. Joyce's place, while you guys check out Mr. Giles' place!"

Mr. Q turned to Ms. Detective. "Is it really worth the risk letting Griffin lead an investigation? With a child, no less?"

Ms. Detective thought about it for a few seconds before she replied. "If you want to make it as an Interpol agent, Griffin, you can't mess this one up. Understand?"

Fee-Fee's face lit up instantly. "A-Are you serious...?! You'll let me...?!"

"You're both to report back at headquarters at 1pm sharp. Understood?" Ms. Detective demanded.

Fee-Fee nodded enthusiastically. "Y-Yes, of course!" He dashed out of the room, me desperately trying to keep up with him.

Galleon Apartments

The crime scene looked just as disgusting as the last one. A woman was leaning against the wall with her clothes all bloody. The large weapon was laying next to her. "Someone must be really strong to be able to pick this up." I commented. "Where do they even get all these different ones from?"

"If I knew the answer to that question, I'd tell you." Fee-Fee replied. "I wonder if this victim was sent a threatening letter, as well... It would break the usual modius operandi, which most serial killers stick to like their whole life is depending on it."

I felt a small smile on my face. "You're a lot more confident when you investigate with less people around."

Fee-Fee sighed. "Well... I try my best all the time. But, with people like Ms. Kirigiri, Q and M, the leader of Interpol, constantly breathing down your neck... it's difficult. Everyone else are like flawless crime-solving, action-packed machines... and I'm nothingness. They pressure me, so much... All I want is to be perfect, like them... but it never works out."

"You want to be a part of Interpol, too? Then why can't you?" I asked.

"It's not easy, Kotoko. Not easy at all." Fee-Fee replied. "You need skill. Determination. Courage. I have none of those things... that coupled with my condition always holding me back and there's no way I'm fit for Interpol status."

"Is Interpol really that mean?" I questioned with a frown.

"It's a lot more than the local police force." Fee-Fee continued. "They deal with pretty heavy stuff... I'm not sure I could deal with that kind of trauma, but... it's the only way I can become stronger."

I stood in thought for a moment as I listened to Fee-Fee continue on about meanie Interpol before I tapped him on the arm to stop him. "Hey, how about I make you a deal?"

"A deal?" Fee-Fee repeated.

"When we get back, I tell Ms. Detective and Mr. Q about how amazing you were and about how much you found!" I smiled. "If they hear about all that, the Mr. M guy might consider giving you a promotion!"

"Are you serious?!" he gasped. "You'll really do that?! But... what do I have to do in return?"

A small, mischevious grin crept across my face. "Well... I really like candy..."

"Done!" he agreed. "Before we get back, I'll get you whatever you want!"

"Yay!" I cheered. "So let's hurry up with investigating!"

Fun fact that 'Felix' means 'lucky' but the Felix here is kind of an idiot and has different unlucky things happening to him

Which is why I named him Felix

To make him taste cruel irony
