Interpol Headquarters ~ Sebastian Walker's POV

"... He's dead." Julia quoted from the files. "Shane Driscoll is already dead."

"Y-Yes." I nodded, already sensing Julia's growing anger, no matter how well she hides her emotions. "It says here that a police officer found him in hiding. This lead Driscoll to attack him and... the officer shot him dead."

"I assume the police officer wasn't charged, as it was an act of self defense." Julia deduced. "What was this officer's name? Perhaps we could question them if needed."

I scanned the file further before finding the name of the officer in question. "... Riley Minami." I read. "Do you think he's related to Kotoko in some way?"

"Her father, if I had to guess." Julia replied. "In that case, he should be down at the precinct. Let's go talk to him about Driscoll."

We arrived at the precinct and asked around for a Riley Minami, but we got the same answer from everyone we asked; nobody had seen him yet. He had been absent from work all day.

"He isn't at work, but he also isn't at home..." Julia muttered, slowly pacing. "Could this be just a coincidence...?"

Julia's cell phone began to ring at that moment, so she answered it with a small frown on her face. "What is it, Griffin...?" she sighed.

"Y-Y-You need to get down here! R-Right away!" Griffin yelled, his voice being so loud that I could hear him, and I was on the other side of the room. "I-I-It's an emergency!"

"Can it wait?" Julia asked. "Q and I are investigating-"

"No, it can't!" Griffin shrieked in response. "Look, I can't explain it all now! Just get to Kotoko's house as soon as possible!"

Julia groaned in irritation as she hung up on the call. "We'll have to halt our current investigation and see just what is so bad, according to Griffin."

"That's fine," I said, packing away my laptop into it's bag. "He never said what the emergency was, though, did he?"

"No." Julia shook her head, her lavender hair swaying. "He always does like to leave out important details. Let's go. He said to move quickly."

Minami Household

"What took you guys so long...?!" Griffin exclaimed. "Just go inside...! In the attic...!"

"The attic?" Julia repeated. She stepped inside the house and climbed upstairs, myself following after her. The stairway to a smaller room lay open on the landing. "Stay down here." Julia commanded. She began to climb the ladder which I found rather impressive considering she was wearing heeled boots. It can't be easy climbing a ladder while wearing those, but she made it look so simple.

Once she had disappeared from sight, I saw her shadow still and unmoving. "Is there anything up there?" I asked.

"... Griffin." Julia's voice called out. "Where is Kotoko?"

"I-In her room, just through that door across from the ladder." Griffin replied. "I took her there after I heard her scream..."

"What's up there?" I repeated as Julia descended from the attic, a dark expression on her face.

She seemed to hesitate as she looked away from me. "... Corpses." she eventually replied simply. "Two corpses."

"C-Corpses?!" I repeated.

"Kotoko's parents, if I had to guess." Julia sighed.

"The bodies have been identified as Whitney and Riley Minami," Julia explained, pacing the length of the main room. "Kotoko's mother and father respectively. Griffin, how did you come across the bodies?"

"W-Well..." Griffin explained. "Kotoko told me that something was wrong with the attic door. She was right; the lock was broken. So I opened it up and let her see what was wrong. Next, I heard a scream... It took me a second to get a grip as I was stopping myself from passing out... When I'd recovered, I saw... the bodies... and Kotoko unconscious on the floor..."

"Then?" Julia interrogated.

"I called you guys while carrying Kotoko into her room." Griffin continued. "I mean, she was in tears, so it was the least I could do, right? She's still there now, if you want to talk to her..."

"Not yet," Julia replied. "We still need to thoroughly investigate the crime scene. Although it's already obvious as to who took the lives of the victims."

"It was NK, wasn't it?" I guessed. "They were killed by scythes through the heart, killing them instantly."

"Yes." Julia nodded. "But the same question remains... who is it?"
