Minami Household ~ Kotoko Minami's POV
I hadn't moved from my bedroom ever since Fee-Fee told me to stay here. I couldn't bring myself to move after what I saw. What I saw was... Mommy and Daddy... and all of that blood...!
I sniffled and wiped my tears with the edge of my pillow. Why did it have to come to this...? Mommy and Daddy did nothing to deserve this, but still...!
I could hear familiar voices outside, voices that sounded like Ms. Kirigiri and Mr. Q. But I didn't want to talk to them, not right now. I'd talk to them about what happened once I was feeling a little better. If I want to be helpful to them, I can't be crying all the time. I needed to calm down first.
And where was Kitoka? I needed to tell him about what happened! Where would we go now that Mommy and Daddy were gone? They were the only relatives we had, and Kitoka legally wasn't old enough to care for me! If we were put in care, then we might be separated and never hear from each other again!
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I ignored it at first, still not wanting to talk to anyone. "Hey, uh, Kotoko? It's me, Felix." the voice said, somewhat nervously. "Listen, um, I know this is a really bad time, but... I just wanted to talk. So... open the door? Please? I know I'm not that useful, but... at least I can sympathise with you, if it makes you feel better...?"
I slowly stood up and opened the door, looking up at Fee-Fee's sheepishly smiling face. I stood aside to let him in and I sat down on my bed again. Fee-Fee cleared his throat nervously, as if he was starting some kind of speech, but I interrupted. "Do you know who did it yet...?" I asked.
"Um.... no, not yet." Fee-Fee admitted. "Sorry. But... I swear we'll find out who's behind all this...! Well, those guys will... I'm not sure if I'll be able to do anything what with, you know, me being me... plain ol' unreliable Felix..."
"You're not plain, old or unreliable...!" I exclaimed.
"Thanks..." Fee-Fee replied with a smile. "You know, you're the third person who's ever said that to me... Everyone else just loves to put me down..."
"Who were the first and second?" I asked.
"Well, I can't tell you their names thanks to Interpol's strict 'letters only' policy, but it wouldn't hurt to just tell you about them." Fee-Fee began. "The first was N. He's like the right-hand man to M, who's the boss of Interpol. M can't stand me like most others, but N... he's different. He doesn't mock me or call me weak or anything like that. I guess it'd be wrong to call him my 'friend' since we're on completely different levels of authority... but he's still great. The second was J. She's not quite on N's level, but she's not as low like me. Like N, she was one of the few people to greet me with a smile..." A sigh escaped his lips. I grinned, instantly detecting the dreaminess in said sigh.
"This J person... Do you like her?" I questioned.
"Huh? Well, um... yeah. Of course I do." Fee-Fee replied. He was silent for a few moments before realizing what I meant, his face turning a bright shade of red. "W-Wait! I meant I liked her as a superior...! Not in THAT way...!"
"Suuuuuuuuure you don't." I commented sarcastically, rolling my eyes. "Hey, once this is over, how about I help you? You know, with asking her out?"
"I-I already said I didn't like her in that way...!" Fee-Fee stammered. "Our relationship is strictly professional, okay...?!"
"Okay." I nodded, but I didn't believe him. "So... are the others outside? Can I go see them?"
"Um... I don't know if that's a good idea." Fee-Fee shrugged. "They're investigating the... the crime scene right now, and I doubt you want to see that again..."
I hesitated, looking down at my pink shoes. "I-I'll be fine." I lied. "I want to help find out who did this to my parents." I picked up my bunny doll as I said this, stroking it's soft fur. Daddy gave this to me as an apology present for being at work so often just last week. I'd always keep it close to me from now on, I promised myself.
"Oh... okay..." Fee-Fee replied. I followed him out of my room, closing the door behind me and watched as Fee-Fee stick his head into the open attic. "Found anything yet?" He asked.
"Yes, actually." I heard Ms. Kirigiri reply. "There's a disk up here. Someone, most likely the culprit, wrote 'Watch' on it. Q, could we use your laptop to view whatever is on this disk?"
"Of course." Mr. Q replied. We all met downstairs in the living room and watched Mr. Q as he typed really fast on his laptop. Ms. Kirigiri was watching from over his shoulder as some kind of video started. I had to step on my toes to see the screen, but there was only a voice coming from the speakers.
"I see you've discovered my latest crime," the voice began cheerily. "The tragic deaths of Riley and Whitney Minami... I look forward to seeing you draw this long-winding investigation to it's conclusion. Then again, you could fail. That'd be fun, too. I'll be waiting, Interpol."
The video simply ended, just like that. "That was a bit anti-climactic." Fee-Fee commented. "What was the point of leaving a message like that?"
"To intimidate us? His personal satisfaction?" Ms. Kirigiri suggested.
Before our debate could continue any further, a forensics guy with fuzzy blonde hair and blue eyes entered the room. "We managed to lift a clear set of fingerprints off of the murder weapons." He announced.
"Well, whose were they?" Ms. Kirigiri demanded.
The forensics man hesitated before replying. "They clearly belong to Felix Griffin."
