A Single tear

The raven haired boy was hurrying down the hallways of the Moon Demon Company compound, rushing towards the library when he collided with a blur of brown and olive green and fell on the ground, dropping the papers he had been carrying. Upon recovering from the collision he was on the verge of shouting at the carelessness of the other person, when he looked up to see that is was Yoichi rubbing his head in pain. "I'm so sorry I didn't see you there Yuu-kun, I was on my way to sparring practice with Kimizuki-kun and I was running late and I started to run, even though we are not allowed to run in the hallways and..."

Yuu cut off the bumbling Yoichi with, "Yoichi, it is ok but I really need to get to the library."

"Yuu-kun. You are actually willingly going to the library?"

"Yea! Got a problem with that?! I just felt like reading up on some things..." Memories of Mika swirled in his head, memories of his cerulean blue eyes, of his silky blonde hair, of his strong, elegant hands that carried him and a crushing guilt squeezed his gut. Why didn't he bring him back to the Moon Demon Company? Why didn't he save him from the vampires? Why? Why!

"Ah Yuu-kun?"

"Yea!? Sorry, zoned out for a second." As they both stood up, Yuu with his gathered papers and Yoichi with his wooden sword, Yoichi gently put a hand on Yuu's shoulder and said, "Yuu-kun, don't worry, we are family and so is Mika. We will get him back for you no matter what." With that, Yoichi nodded his head and continued on down the hallway. Yuu shook his head in amazement as he resumed his journey to the library, despite his looks Yoichi is a very observant person and that always comes as a shock and also brings on relief that he is on our side of the war.

Yuu arrives at the library in good time and searches for a free table when he hears a certain annoying voice calling for him, "Hey cherry boy! Whatever are you doing in this place? Did you get lost by any chance?"

She dodges a swipe from Yuu when he replies, "Oh shut up Shinoa! I'm here to read up on some things!"

"Read? I'm surprised you know the meaning of the word!" she says with a shit-eating grin. Up until Yuu had met Shinoa, he hadn't known what a shit-eating grin could look like but thanks to her, nowadays he is well acquainted with the concept.

"Ughh Shinoa, just leave me alone and go annoy someone else!" Yuu sits down at the last free table in the library and starts laying his papers out as he is speaking with her, when she swipes the papers from under his nose and starts reading them.

"How to turn a vampire back into a human? Demon possession and vampires? The history of vampires? Vampire customs? Would you also like to throw in vampire fashion and demon cooking for dummies?"

"After seeing Mika for the first time in 4 years, the relief, the joy and the light in my heart felt like coming home for the first time. I was the happiest I had been in 4 years and when I woke up in that hospital room I was terrified that it was all a dream. Finding out that it was reality meant that I had to accept that my Mika is with the vampires now but that is no problem for me and in fact motivated me to find out all I could about who he is now!"

"Yuu-san I understand, can I help you?"

"Yea sure Shinoa! You're a great friend when you want to be!" Yuu said with a beaming grin. Together they sat at that table and delved into the world of vampires and demons.

A few hours later the both of them heard an announcement on the speakers, "May Shinoa squad please report to Shinya Hiiragi's office immediately, I repeat may Shinoa squad please report to Shinya Hiiragi's office immediately." The both of them stood up with a hurried clatter causing heads to turn towards them as they walked out of the library and hurried to Shinya's office. On the way they met up with Kimizuki and Yoichi whose hair was sweating from their sparring practise together and as a group they began to sprint to the office. When they arrived at the door panting, next to it stood Mitsuba with wet hair, presumably from showering and her arms crossed in a disapproved manner. "Guys, you are so slow! Shinya is already waiting come on!" Shinoa stepped forward and turned the door handle and tentatively opened the creaking door making the group cringe at the sound. Shinoa squad stepped into the room and looked around at the big office with mainly glass walls and decorated with white sofas and soft fur rugs. To the right was the one non-glass wall in the office that was taken up by a large bookshelf holding many books and it was evident that these books were well taken care of and gave the room a nice, musty smell. On the shiny white desk in front of the Shinoa squad stood a vase of red roses that were a stark contrast in colour compared to the rest of the room. Leaning on the desk, stood Shinya and upon seeing the Shinoa squad he straightened and walked back around the desk to sit in a high backed chair. "Everyone please take a seat, this may take a while to explain." The Shinoa squad sat in the comfortable seats and prepared themselves to listen to Shinya, Mitsuba being the over organised person she is, took a notepad and pen from her pocket and steeled herself to keep notes of the next proceedings.

"Shinoa, Kimizuki, Yoichi, Mitsuba and Yuu. Thank you for coming. As you all know, Guren went out on what we thought was a small mission with his squad to kill off a small nest of vampires that were living too close to us for comfort." The group of teens nodded their heads, steeling themselves for the worst. "The mission was going perfectly and that was a problem."

Yuu raised his hand and asked, "Shinya why was this a problem?"

Shinya stared into Yuu's eyes and with a grief-stricken voice said, "Because a plan Yuuichiro, can never go perfectly in this world, instead we always adapt our plans to the current situation and hope that the mission succeeds."

"Oh." Yuu replies with a gulp. Something about Shinya made you feel uneasy around him and yet everyone trusts him just as much as that idiot Guren.

"Anyway the mission was going so well that the squad decided to split up to cover more ground in a quicker amount of time and at that moment we lost contact for 3 days. At 2:46am this morning the guards spotted a group of individuals around 500m away from them at the East gate and were ready to fire when suddenly they saw what they believed was a huge, red dragon expelling fire into the sky, I was contacted and upon hearing this statement I called off the snipers and told them to prepare to welcome the Guren squad home. When the Guren squad returned everyone began whispering and gesturing and pointing, I called on Mito to explain where Guren was."

Yuu exclaimed, "Guren!? What? What happened to him!?"

Shinya put up a hand to silence Yuu and continued the brief, "Mito informed us that the squad was ambushed by vampires and a noble with long lilac hair bound up in a ponytail. After searching through our files we identified him as Ferid Bathory, 7th progenitor. It would seem that Guren was captured by the vampires and is held hostage. We have been alerted that he is still alive and breathing. Your mission along with Narumi squad is to save Guren and bring him back safe and sound. Guren is being held in Nagoya town hall and Ferid is probably torturing information out of him, patrolling the perimeter are 20 normal vampires but otherwise the situation isn't at its worst yet. According to Mito, standing next to Ferid was a blonde, blue eyed vampire who although isn't a noble seems to be quite close to this Ferid, be wary of him. You leave tomorrow at 10:00am, understood?" Yuu freezes when he hears the description of the blonde vampire and is late when saying, "Yes sir!"

"You are dismissed." Shinoa squad stood up and left the room and just as they closed the door behind them, Yuu started to feel dizzy with the information and clapped a hand onto a wall to support himself. His body was hunched over, sweating and his breathing was unsteady. Flashes of Mika reeled through his head, giving him an excruciating headache. Why was he standing next to Ferid, why? He was the one that killed our family, why would Mika be close to him? Mitsuba turned around after hearing the loud breathing and said, "Are you okay Yuu?" Yuu waved his hand at her but then he started seeing tinges of blackness at the ends of his vision that grew bigger and bigger until Yuu felt like he was succumbing to the darkness. As he felt himself falling to the ground, he heard the muffled exclamations of worry from his friends and lastly before he slipped into unconsciousness he felt a solitary tear roll down his face.
