A Stormy Blue Sky

Yuu's POV

Yuu woke up with a pounding headache, a dry throat and with a feeling of confusion. He registered that he was lying on a bed, that he was indoors and that he felt a slight breeze tickling his right cheek. Yuu knew that he was supposed to open his eyes but he felt the desire to keep them closed, to keep this illusion of darkness around him intact. He loved how he didn't have to be on his guard, he loved feeling this lack of danger. He felt safe in this darkness that wasn't stained red, he felt even calm in this deep sea of black but then he realised that in this darkness, there were no splashes of lilac, yellow, pink, olive green, purple, white and his reason for living, blue. Upon this horrifying realisation, Yuu wrenched his eyes open to face his reality once more. Above him was a white ceiling with brown stains on it and a bug that was lazily moving across it. Yuu turned his head to the right to see Yoichi and Kimizuki sitting next to each other on regulation hospital chairs with their heads bent towards each other in deep conversation, wait, did he just see the pair holding hands? Of course not, must have been his imagination. In a raspy voice Yuu managed to croak out, "Hey guys." Yoichi and Kimizuki turned away from their discussion and hurried over to Yuu.

Yoichi exclaimed, "Yuu-kun! Thank god you were only out for a few hours, here, the doctor said for you to drink a lot of water when you woke up and also to take this pain killer!" Yuu took Yoichi's offerings gratefully and gulped down the water and painkiller as quickly as possible, which resulted in him choking a little on the water.

Kimizuki, both worried and angry at Yuu's carelessness shouted, "Baka Yuu! You just woke up, we don't want you falling unconscious again! Drink slower god damn it!"

"Oh shut the hell up Mr Telephone pole! I'm fine!" Yuu said, with a defiant expression.

"If you were fine then you wouldn't have fucking choked on the water!" Kimizuki shouted, clearly annoyed at Yuu's idiocy.

"Haaa!? Oi bastard, do you want to go!?" Yuu shouted back, clenching his fists and readying himself to spit in the pink-haired boy's face when Yoichi loudly intervened with, "Both of you please stop fighting, Kimizuki get the others will you? They need to know that Yuu-kun is awake and Yuu-kun stop getting ready for a brawl and relax in bed!" Both Kimizuki and Yuu stared at Yoichi with equally dumb-founded expressions on their faces. It was rare for Yoichi to speak loudly but to see the boy shouting at them with such an angry expression on his face was something that neither Yuu nor Kimizuki had ever seen before. Kimizuki cleared his throat and replied with, "Umm yes of course, I will go and get the others now." With that Kimizuki turned and went out the door to get Shinoa and Mitsuba.

"Now Yuu-kun, sorry about that but how are you feeling?"

"Umm never better Yoichi, what time is it by the way?" The painkiller had taken effect and his drowsiness and headache had gotten better, leaving Yuu feeling healthy with lots of energy to kill vampiric scum.

"It is 8am Yuu-kun, we are due to leave for the mission in two hours but I don't know whether they'll let you."

"Ha!? Why not!? I'm perfectly healthy!"

"The doctors say that the cause of your unconsciousness apart from hyperventilation was also drug abuse, Yuu-kun have you been taking anything like that in the past week?" Yoichi's face was disappointed, awaiting a positive response from him.

"No of course not! I don't touch the stuff! After all, my real parents did and look what they did..."

"Oh Yuu-kun! I didn't mean it in an accusing way, I never believed that you did drugs anyway but I wonder how the doctors got that result?"

"Maybe it's because of this mysterious Owa-...." At this moment Shinoa and Mitsuba stumbled into the room with Kimizuki, breathless from running and in unison shouted, "Are you okay!?"
