A Hopeful Light

"About time you precious brats." These were the words that Yuu heard as he collapsed on his knees and pulled Guren into a tight embrace which stunned Shinoa and Narumi squad into silence. The only noise they could hear were Yuu's tears falling to the floor as he said, "You made me worry so much idiot Guren! For fuck's sake, promise you won't get captured again!"

Guren leaned into the embrace as he whispered, "I promise Yuu." He turned his bleeding face towards the two stunned squads and said in the voice of a commander, "We will worry about me later but for now let's just get the hell out of here."

Kimizuki stepped forward with Mitsuba, helped Guren up and allowed him to lean on both of their shoulders. As they were attending to Guren, Shinoa stepped forward and said, "Ok everyone we shouldn't be relieved yet, we still have to get back, be careful and stay on your guard. With that in mind, let's move out."

The squads swiftly got out of that room and were about to go back through the grand double doors when Guren rasped, "Ferid could be out there, trust me, it's a miracle you haven't ran into him yet and I can assure you that you would never want to. It would be safer to go out through the window."

Shinoa faced Guren as she replied, "I see, then everyone, let us exit through the window one by one. Two people need to help get Guren down otherwise this isn't going to work, is that understood?"

The squad nodded their heads as they readied themselves to escape via the large window. Kimizuki, after handing Guren over to Shinoa went out first while holding hands with Yoichi which Yuu immediately recognised to be a completely platonic thing to do. Next Shinoa and Mitsuba went out but due to who they were carrying, they had to go down the tree awkwardly, Shinoa grabbing the arms of Guren and Mitsuba the legs. Then all of Narumi squad efficiently and swiftly slithered out of the window. Yuu was the last to exit through the window but just before he jumped out, he cast one last wistful glance at the sleeping face of Mika. With a sigh and after forcing himself forward he closed his eyes and leaped. The sensation of falling swept through him as he felt his stomach do a flip before he gracefully landed on the soft ground. He looked around at his comrades before he forced a smile onto his face and whispered, "Let's move on." The squads quickly began to backtrack towards the car when suddenly they heard a feral scream that came from the town hall. The squads looked up as they saw a figure with long silver hair throw a door at a wall, splintering it into tiny pieces. The look on the squad's faces was an intimidated one and slowly turned into a terrified one as they saw Ferid freeze, look down and smile in an unhinged, spine chilling manner. Yuu saw as Ferid bent down and picked up Mika. Yuu saw as Ferid stroked Mika's hair like a child. Yuu saw as Ferid placed a kiss on Mika's forehead and as Yuu saw this blatant display of perverseness, he felt enraged feelings bubbling up in his chest and he started seeing red before he felt a stinging pain across his face. He snapped out of it as he saw Guren looking at him with a scolding expression, "Yuu I know that Mika is right there and that he is special to you but we don't have the strength, time or resources to save him right now, so snap out of it and let's go home. This is not a request it is an order!"

"Guren if we leave him now then we would just be leaving him for dead! If we leave him now, I know that Ferid will do horrible things to him. If we leave him now, then I don't know if my heart could take it..."

Guren cast Yuu a pitiful expression as he replied, "Yuu, you're going to have to deal with it. We are leaving now whether you like it or not. We'll save him later but for now just be strong and run back to the car."

Yuu felt tears slide down his face yet again as he wiped them away as he said, "Guren, he is my Mika."

"I know Yuu."

"I wanted to tell him something."

"You can tell him when we save him."

Yuu looked into Guren's eyes as he said, "Promise?"

Guren smiled as he replied, "Promise."

Yuu turned towards his comrades, smiled and with a turn of his heel, he took off running towards the car. The two squads followed suit and in 5 minutes they promptly arrived at the car with 2 minutes to spare before the deadline. Kimizuki got into the driver's seat which put a brief pout on Yuu's face before Mitsuba gave him a silencing look as they took off.

2 weeks later when both squads were safely back at headquarters, Yuu had called a squad meeting in his room. At 1:00pm the squad gathered in Yuu's room as he stood up and said, "So guys, I'm sorry that for the past 2 weeks I haven't been talking to you guys. Please don't take it personally, it's just that I have been in the library 24/7 ever since we got back."

When Shinoa squad took a proper look at Yuu, they saw Yuu's sleep-deprived eyes, his dishevelled hair and his rumpled uniform. They had never seen Yuu look this slovenly before and they were surprised by just how much Yuu looked like he wanted to pass out onto the floor. Shinoa, worried for Yuu's health asked, "Umm Yuu-san? When was the last time you slept?"

Yuu's eyes looked bloodshot as he replied, "Ah, I think that I got 4 hours of sleep 2-3 days ago?"

Yoichi stood up in a panic as he exclaimed, "Yuu-kun! That is definitely not good for you, how are you going to save Mika, looking like that?"

Yuu flinched as he replied, "Guys let me explain, the reason I look like this is because I'm trying to save Mika."

The squad looked at him with dubious faces as he continued on by saying, "Look, I have been in the library for the past 2 weeks and since I've had almost no sleep, the time I've spent in there is equivalent to me being in there for a month. I have read everything I could on demon possession and two souls sharing the same body and I have found two solutions!" Yuu's eyes gleamed with pride as he said these words.

Shinoa surprised beyond belief said, "Wait a sec, so you're meaning to tell me that our Yuu-san actually read in the library for pretty much a month's time, non-stop!?"

"Yep!"

The squad couldn't believe what they were hearing but one glance at Yuu was enough to make them believe him. Kimizuki cleared his throat as he asked Yuu, "What are these two solutions you speak of?"

Yuu brightened up as he replied, "Ah that's right! The reason you're here! So, when I was reading in the library I found a small pamphlet stuck in between two huge books and when I read it, it said that there has only ever been one circumstance concerning two souls sharing a body before in the past and it's just like now. The book said that if you harm one then the other bleeds, kill one and the other subsequently dies. This means that to kill Mahiru it would mean that we would kill Mika in the process, which is a solution we won't be resorting to. The only way to save Mika is to separate both Mahiru and Mika's souls by using a weapon with strong seraphic or demonic ties. A weapon with demonic ties this strong though would be impossible to use, so we will have to go with the seraphic alternative."

Shinoa in a confused voice asked, "Wait Yuu-san, what do you mean by a demonic weapon this strong? How strong are these weapons anyway?"

Yuu smirked as he said, "Like all of the demon weapons in the world combined plus a billion!"

Yoichi gasped and exclaimed, "That powerful!? Yuu-kun, what are you getting us into!?"
Mitsuba also put forward her loud opinion when she said, "Yea Yuu, a seraphic weapon? I don't know what that is but it sounds too dangerous for this squad."

Yuu quickly replied with, "It'll be fine! Trust me!"

Shinoa quickly retorted with a grin on her face, "When has trusting you ever worked in the past though Yuu-san, hehe!"

Yuu's smile faded as he said, "Oi, so not true!"

Before a fight could break out between the pair Kimizuki interrupted them to ask, "What the hell are we going to be doing in order to get a weapon that powerful?"

Yuu's smirk grew again into a wide grin as he said, "We're going to summon an angel!"
