Instead of driving towards home, Abhay drove in a different direction, I couldn't recognise it.
"Where are you going?" I asked, looking out the window. It was rather cloudy and dull, it looked like it was going to rain.
"You'll see." Was his answer.
Eventually Abhay stopped on the side of the road, next to what seemed to be a forest.
"What are you doing here? Why'd we stop?" I asked. Why on earth would he take me to a forest?
I internally panicked. Was he going to kill me?
I mentally laughed, I felt so stupid for thinking such idiotic thoughts.
"Just come with me." He said. I got out of the car and took my phone."Leave your phone in the car." He said.
"But-" He gave me a stern look. Out of fear I left it in the car. He must have been irritated that I was asking so many questions, but I couldn't help.
I followed behind him anxiously. He seemed lost in thought as he walked.
After about five minutes we arrived at a small lake. Trees surrounded it like a fence and the grass was emerald green. The sight was breathtaking.
"Here we are." He said.
"What is this place?" I asked.
"It's my sanctuary." I looked to him. "I come here to calm myself." He said, looking around.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked. If it was his sanctuary then why did he show it to me?
"Because I wanted to. Is that a good enough answer for you?" He grinned. I looked down.
"Come." He said suddenly. I looked up and saw him sitting on the grass, removing his boots.
"What are you doing?" I asked. He wasn't thinking of swimming was he?
"Do you have to ask so many questions? Don't be so nervous just come sit next to me. I want to talk to you." He said.
I sat next to him as he dipped his feet into the lake.
"The water's nice, why don't you dip your feet." He said.
I hesitated at first but then did as he suggested. The water was slightly cold yet soothing against my feet.
"Are you okay...after what happened with your dad?" He looked at me.
"I guess." Was all that I said.
"He shouldn't have said that to you." His jaw clenched.
I smiled. "Thank you."
He gave me a confused look. "What? Why are you thanking me?"
"You stood up for me, you supported me and you helped me when I was all alone in this world. Why wouldn't I thank you." I smiled.
"I'll always be there for you Tina." His words caught me off guard.
We sat in silence afterwards, but it was a comfortable silence. Our time spent there was so calming, so tranquil. I allowed myself to forget about my father, my studies and all my negative thoughts.
Then suddenly a drop of water fell onto my face. Then another and another. And soon a whole flood started falling from the sky.
I was about to get up and run to the foilage but then Abhay grabbed my hand.
"Don't you like the rain?" He asked. I stopped in my tracks, he was right, I loved rain. But I didn't want to get sick. I still stayed next to him.
The rain tapped at our skin like a pianist playing the piano. It was comforting. We had put our shoes back on earlier before it started raining too heavily, my hair and clothes were drenched as we stood up.
I looked to Abhay and saw him looking down, his eyes widended yet his gaze stayed fixed on something, he licked his lips and his breathing came out in short drags. I followed his gaze and looked down.
My eyes widenes as well. My white shirt was completely soaked and it revealed my light blue bra.
I quickly covered my chest and he diverted his eyes. He coughed awkwardly.
"Lets's go to the car now." He said and walked quickly away from me.
Well that wasn't incredibly awkward and embarrassing. I sighed and followed him.
When I sat into his car he blasted the heater and drove away from the sanctuary.
"Here take this." He gave me his jacket which he had kept in the car.
"No, you take it, you'll get sick otherwise." I argued.
"Don't worry about me, it takes more than a little bit of rain to make me sick." He said proudly. I believed him so I wore his jacket. It smelt just like him, Hugo Boss. I loved it.
After about half an hour we reached home and I decided to have a nice hot shower in my bathroom.
The hot water warmed my body immediatley and I enjoyed the soothing touch.
Abhay stayed in his room for most of the night and I slept peacefully that night, having that same dream where I was surrounded by yellow flowers and the man of my dreams.
