"No." I said.
"No?" He looked confused. "But why?"
"You're my teacher, Sir. What if someone saw us at your friend's wedding together, it would ruin both your and my reputation." I spoke honestly.
"Nobody will see us together it's fine." He said.
"But there's always a chance." I debated.
"Tina it's just a wedding." He reasoned.
"I still refuse."
He kept quiet for a minute. "Okay fine I won't force you to go." He seemed irritated.
"Sir I'm sor-"
"It's fine you can leave." He dismissed me and I quickly walked out of his room.

One week later.
It's been a week and Abhay was completely ignoring me. Thankfully he recovered from the flu but now he doesn't even acknowledge my presence.
We used to get along so well, we were practically friends. But now he treats me like a stranger.
And the reason is unknown to me.
Actually, ever since I declined going to his friend's wedding he has been acting strange.
Even in class he doesn't acknowledge me, and whenever our eyes meet he turns away.
I hopped off my bicycle and walked to class.
"Boo!"
I shrieked and dropped my phone. I looked behind me and saw Parth in a fit of laughter.
"I'm gonna kill you, Parth!" I scolded him and started running after him.
He tried to make a run for it but I caught him by his arm and started ruffling his hair.
"No! Not the hair! Not my hair!"
"Gosh, no wonder you're gay." I teased.
"Ouch." He pretended to be hurt. "Please, I'm sorry." Then he held his ears.
"Sorry isn't going to fix my phone Parthy!" I ruffled his hair more then let go of him.
"Your phone is as old as a dinosaur, Teeny, you need an upgrade." He said and laughed.
"I don't need a fancy phone, mine works just fine. And don't call me Teeny." I debated.
"Whatever you say...Teeny." He teased.
"Shush!"
"Never...Teeny." He smirked.
"I swear I'm going to-"
"You mustn't swear Teeny." He said and I lost it.
"That's it." I ran after him again and started ruffling his hair again.
"Okay okay I'm sorry." He laughed but I didn't stop, I kept ruffling his curly hair.
"You're so dead Par-"
"Tina! What is going on here?" I looked up and saw Mr. Ranawat staring at me and Parth. I let go of Parth and stood up straight. This was the first time he talked to me properly after a week. "Well?" He looked...angry?
"We..we were...um-" I didn't know what to say, mainly because of the surprise I felt after he started speaking to me.
"Sir, we were just fooling around. Nothing serious." Parth said.
"And who are you?" Mr. Ranawat asked rudely.
"Parth Kumar, Sir."
"Parth." He said to himself and he seemed to have remembered something. Then something clicked in his mind and he turned to Parth angrily. "Well, Parth, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Tina. You may leave." He dismissed him.
"See you later." He said to me and walked away.
"Tina, get your act together and go to class." He spoke demandingly.
I ducked my head and made my way towards class, I sat in my usual seat and was soon joined by Tanya.
"What was stuck up Mr. Ranawat's ass?" She asked.
"You saw that, huh?" I dropped my head in embarrassment.
"Yeah, I've never seen him so angry before." She commented.
Just then Abhay walked into the room, and once again he ignored my presence.
"Get out your textbooks, we're doing something different today." He said and we did as told. He turned around and wrote a foreign sum on the board.
Confused glances were exchanged between the students.
"Alright, who wants to solve this?" He asked the class. No one moved. "Come on, who wants to try?"
Still, nobody answered.
"Okay. Tina, come up here." He said. All eyes were on me, and I visibly gulped. Why is he giving me so much of attention all of a sudden? "Tina." He said more sternly.
Out of fear I got up and walked towards him. He handed me a pen and gestured towards his board.
"Sir, we haven't learn this before. I don't even know where to start." I told the truth.
"Don't give up so easily. Just try." His tone was threatening rather than encouraging.
I turned my body towards the board...
I just stared at it. The contents was completely foreign to me.
"Sir I don't know how to solve this." I defended.
I thought that maybe he was teaching us a lesson, a valuable life lesson, but his next statement proved otherwise.
He chuckled mockingly. "You give up easily don't you? What's the matter, Tina? Maybe if you stopped playing childish games in the corridor and focused on your studies then you'd be able to comprehend and atleast solve problems like these." A few people in the class laughed and I felt tears start to pool in my eyes. "Anyway, go to your seat." He dismissed me.
I looked at him but he turned his head.
The walk back to my seat was awful, embarrassment spread through me like a plague.
When I sat down Tanya placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, Teens, he's just in a bad mood. Maybe something happened at his home." She tried to comfort me.
But the comfort didn't consume me, because I live with Abhay, and we both stay at the same home. So the problem was most probably me.
Class ended a few moments later and I literally ran out of class. I thought I felt Abhay's eyes watching me, but who was I kidding? He probably hated the sight of me.
I saw Parth and ran to him and wrapped my arms qround him.
"There, there. It's okay, it wasn't your fault. I heard from one of my friend's, Mr. Ranawat seemed to have a fit and expressed his anger on you." He soothed my nerves but I sobbed into his shoulder. "Teens are you crying? C'mon Teens don't let him get to you. He's just your teacher afterall." He reasoned.
If only he knew.
He's not only my teacher, but my hero. He saved me from being homeless, he protected me from my father...and what did I do? I took him for granted.
My father was right...I became a burden to him.
"Alright." I sighed and closed my eyes, holding him tighter.
"Don't worry Teens, your gay bestie is always here for you." I laughed and opened my eyes.
But I wish I hadn't.
A few feet in front of me stood an angry looking Ranawat. His eyebrows were knitted together, his jaw was clenched, his hands were balled into fists and his furious eyes were dead-set on me.
