The music was loud yet energetic. They lights were dimmed which was great because I didn't want anyone to see me dance.

Mihika came up to me. "Girl," she slurred. Yup she was drunk. "Why don't you go to Abhay and show him some of your moves."

"Why would I do that?" I questioned.

"Because he's been staring at you since the past twenty minutes you've been dancing." She smirked.

What?

Well there goes my plan of 'nobody seeing me dance.'

"He said he was fine where he was, he might not like to dance." I reasoned with her and she shrugged.

"I may be drunk," she held up her index finger, "but I'm not naïve. I can see that he's got eyes for you. He keeps staring you down." She poked me and walked away.

If only she knew.

The only reason he stared at me was because he really hates me. He didn't want my presence there and also I was a terrible house guest.

Just then a slow song came on.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen grab a partner."

Oh god.

I didn't know anyone there...and I didn't want to partner up with some random person.

Someone tapped me on my shoulder.

I turned around and was met with a guy who looked like he was eighteen. "May I have this dance?" He extended his hand. He smelt of cigarettes and whiskey.

"Actually I was just about to sit down..." I started to walk away but then he grabbed my arm.

"Oh c'mon Mam, just one dance." He started pulling me closer to him and I started to panic. His grip on my arm was tight and I struggled to try and break free.

"What are you-" I started but was silenced when Abhay stood intimidatingly in front of us.

"Make one more move and I swear I'll kill you. If she doesn't want to dance with you, then leave her the fuck alone." His voice was low yet frightening.

The perv let go of my arm immediately. "S-Sorry Sir, S-Sorry Mam." He apologised and literally ran in the opposite direction.

I was about to thank Abhay but he gripped my arm and lead me towards the dance floor. When we were amongst the other couples he looked at me.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I figured you didn't want to be troubled by anymore perverts." He said.

"Are you going to dance with me?" I asked surprised.

"No. I'm just gonna stand here with you in this crowd of dancing people." He rolled his eyes and took my hands and placed them on his shoulders then placed his hand on my hip and the other on my shoulder.

Once again a spark ignited when our skin touched and I couldn't control the excitement which leaped in my stomach.

We swayed to the music with my eyes watching him and his looking behind me.

"Could you stop staring at me?" He looked at me.

"You confuse me." Was all I said. One minute he was happy, the next agitated. One moment he was comforting me when I awoke from a nightmare, then the next morning he completely ignored me. Now he saved me from a pervert and is dancing with me.

He sighed. "The feeling's mutual." He replied.

"Thank you." I said referring back to the incident which occured minutes ago.
