"Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise," Zander answered me. He had called us out sick at school. For a reason he won't tell me.
"But I hate surprises. Whenever I get a 'surprise,' it's always bad."
"Well, those days are over."
"Sure," I replied sarcastically.
"Don't give me that attitude, young lady. I will turn this car around," Zander mocked what a parent would say to a teenager. I wonder if he is starting to prepare for when Jenna becomes one.
Boy, is Jenna's childhood different from mine. But, yet, almost the same. With Jenna's looks, when she's older, of course, will get Zander to set a shot gun just for the 'boys.'
I gave a little burnt and crossed my arms, looking out the window. Mainly, so I can have some little landmarks so I know where I would be going if I needed to head back. That's probably why I don't like those vans that only have the front, front side, and two little back windows. The back window are like useless in those cars.
After a few minutes, Zander parked in front of some sort of food place, can only tell by the soup of the day sign, in their back parking lot.
"Why are we here?"
"Cause we can."
"This is really that big 'surprise' you couldn't tell me?"
"Yeah."
"Idiot."
"Are you sears?"
"Are you a girl?"
"No..."
"Than that's not your answer."
"Oka...Hey!"
"Hay of for horses," I retorted as I walked inside the restaurant place. It seamed more fancy that what I could ever afford. If I could afford it, how could he?"
"Reservation?" The guy in front asked.
I knew Zander was still getting over the shock of what I said, so I answered for him. "It should be under Wallis, Zander."
The guy looked through, what I am guessing is, a computer before saying, "right this way."
The guy took us up some steps, and out into a balcony. To say the view was pretty would make the understatement of the year. It was the most beautifulest thing I have ever seen. I do not care at this point that 'beautifulest' is not a word, if it isn't.
You could look over the little town, and watch as the kids are playing at the playground in a school a few miles away. Adults were walking around the street, having nothing to do. The sun was in a perfect position, not too high, and not too low. The sky was a perfect baby blue with perfect white clouds.
It was so pretty, you would think it was a dream. Really. I may have never been to anything fancy, but this. This is beyond words to explain.
I felt out of place with my band t-shirt and ripped, almost black, dark blue jeans. My eyes scanned the place in awe. I didn't even realize that we were at our table until Zander spoke.
"Don't just stand there. Sit."
I looked back at him, sat down, and looked at the menu. It looked very fancy too. I honestly don't know how he can afford this.
A few minutes later, a girl cam at our table. "Anything I can start you out with?"
"I'll have your fine red wine," Zander said.
"Okay," the girl said, putting it down. How he is getting away with that, I do not know.
"I'll just take a Pepsi," I told her.
"I will be right back with your drinks." With that, she left.
I looked at Zander. "How can you afford this place?"
"I have my ways."
I raised my eyebrows, but didn't push it.
"I have a question for you," Zander said after we got our drinks.
"I may have an answer for you."
"Will..."
