"Hello class! Nice to see all of you showed up. Now I'd like to talk about the project we are going to start." Mrs.Barron tells us.

"Project?" I mouth to Emily and she shrugs. For starters we hardly do projects in math because well, it's math. Secondly, why are we starting the project so early?

"You will have a week from today to create your own imaginary business and write out how much money it'll take and what you'll need to get the business going. The only requirement is you must work with a person of the other sex. Pick your partner and send me a email ASAP on who your working with and your business. Go ahead, get started." This is wonderful, I hate everyone in here other than Emily.. .and Niall.

Everyone gets up and starts talking. "Jo." A voice says that I recognize as Niall.

"Hey Niall, can you be my partner? Your the only guy in here I can stand." I laugh and he joins.

"Yeah I was about to ask you that myself."

"We need to plan this out. Like whose house will we go to and what time we will meet and what days and all that stuff." Niall just shrugs. "We can meet at my house everyday this week but the only thing is I work till six."

"Where do you work? Because I can meet you there then we can go to your house." He is so confident unlike anyone else I've ever spoke to.

"A bakery down the street. When is your last class?"

"This class actually." He laughs.

"Me too. So could you follow me after school? I have to work but we could think of a idea while I work then after words we can go to my house." Something feels funny in my stomach as I ask him this. What the heck is wrong with me?

"Sounds good." A awkward silence comes upon us. "So what do we do now?" He asks uncomfortably.

I look at my phone and see we still have 35 minutes. "Hang on."

I walk up to Mrs.Barron's desk. "Could me and Niall be excused for the rest of class to work on our project?"

"Yes ma'am. I'm glad to finally meet you Josslyn right?" She holds out her hand for me to shake.

"Yeah, call me Jo."

"Well I've heard great things about you and you are very talented, I know your mom would be proud." When she says that I feel tears behind my eyes but I force them back, I hate it when people mention my mom.

"Yes. Thanks for letting us go. Well bye." I wave and go back to Niall.

"Lets go before I make a scene." I choke. I feel a pain in my throat making it hard to speak.

Niall looks at me worried before grabbing my bag for me. "Kay lets go." We hurry out the school.

When we get out side I see the yellow bug next to Niall's car. "That's my car, so just follow me." I hop in my bug turning up the air. I drive out the parking lot forgetting Niall still has my backpack but its not like we're not going to the same place.

I want to just cry, but if Niall sees that I'm crying he will get more worried than he already is. Wait, why do I care what he thinks? I never care what anybody says or thinks. I must be getting sick or something.

The bakery is only down the road so it takes no time at all to get there. I park in my spot and Niall parks his hummer next to me. "So. is this just a hobby job or what? Because cooking cookies has to be fun." Niall tells me.

I laugh at him. "It's got it's ups and downs." I didn't feel like crying now, why was that? "Come on in and you can try something." I smile.

I unlock the door am he walks in behind me. This place was my second home. This bakery is all I have left...

"This place is amazing. What made you paint it in cupcakes?" He takes in the scenery.

"My uh. Mom did this a long time ago." I choke. Here it comes. "Here you can have one." I take out a tray of homemade finger hut cookies. He takes the biggest one and I take a larger one also.

We make small talk while eating our snacks and I go back to the kitchen to get started. Niall comes back with me and we start discussing some ideas for our project.

"We could do like a guitar shop." Niall suggests.

"Are you into music?" I ask him while mixing things to make the dough perfect.

"Yeah I play guitar and sing a little."

"That's cool. I don't know very many guys who like to sing. I play the piano, drums, violin, guitar, saxophone and I sing." He must be impressed because when I look over at him his mouth is hanging open.

"Surprise?" I laugh. "I also play softball and track. Do you play any sports?"

"Football. Well here it's called soccer but yeah."

"Don't mind me asking, but where are you from? Correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to have a Irish accent." I eye him.

"Your right, I'm from Ireland."

"Why'd you come to Indiana? Isn't it kinda boring living in this dump town?"

"So many questions." He jokes. "But um my mum got remarried and they wanted a new beginning and now were here." I feel a little hurt by the way he said that because I thought he liked hanging out with me. "Not like that. This is fun though and I didn't expect to make a friend on the first day." He smiles at me, a warm smile.

"Me either."
