I am writing about the phone call through Third Person so that you, the reader, can experience what both Jess and Rory are feeling and thinking.
---------------------------------------------------------

"Hello?"

"Jess? It's Rory, I got your number off of Luke, can we talk?"

"Uh yeah, just give me a minute." Jess says. From the second Rory's voice hit his ear, he lost all sight of the hurt he felt towards her.

He put the phone down and went to go check on Laura. 'Good.' He thought. 'She's still sleeping.' He grabbed the baby monitor and his phone and sat down on his bed.

"Okay, sorry about that. I had to finish what I was working on." He hated lying to her, but he didn't want her to find out about Laura like this.

"It's okay. I just wanted to talk to you about mom and Luke's wedding. I uh know we haven't seen eachother since your business's open house, but I'll be in your neck of the woods on Wednesday night and  wanted to know if you'd like to meet for coffee or dinner or drinks even."

'Damn it Rory.' She cursed herself. 'Just stop talking. He probably doesn't even want to see you after you ripped his heart in two, let alone listen to you ramble.'

"I would like that" Jess is taken aback by his words. Would he really like it? And what about Laura? "But uh how about instead of going out, we have coffee, drinks, and dinner at my apartment?"

She is taken by suprize at his offer. Sensing her hesitation, Jess quickly adds to his offer.

" Only if you're comfortable with it I mean. We uh we don't even have to have dinner or drinks, we can just have coffee. But I really would like you to come here. It would give us a better setting to talk, and I have something I need you to see."

'I don't think he's ever talked so fast in his life. ' Rory thinks to herself while contemplating his offer. Can she do it? Can she be around him, alone, at his apartment? Can she force herself not to get lost in his eyes or his smile? She hadn't thought about him in so long, but now that she's let herself, it's hard for her to stop.

"If that's what you want, then I'm okay with it." She says with a slight sigh, but Jess doesn't pick up on it because he just keeps rambling on.

"Okay then uh I'll text you the address and I'll see you Wednesday night." Why is he so excited? He hasn't been this excited since he was told he was going to have a child, and even that was more terror than anything.

"Jess, I just wanted to say I'm sorry." The words just flow out of her mouth. It's almost like a part of her has been practicing this, waiting for the day when she could finally say all that she's needed to say. "I'm sorry for going to your open house and telling you everything was fixed, and not mentioning Logan. I'm sorry that I let you kiss me and I'm sorry I kissed you back. I'm sorry that I used seeing you as a way to get back at Logan.. I'm just sorry that I hurt you Jess."

"Rory, thank you. I needed to hear that. All's forgiven Ror. Let's just act like it never happened okay? You were in a bad place, and I get it." Thinking of Laura he adds, "if anyone gets it, it's me Rory."

Jess hears Laura's baby monitor begin to make noises, so he decides to cut the conversation short.

"I've got to go. One of my coworkers just sent me an email saying that one of the clients is throwing a fit about something or other. I'll see you Wednesday Rory."

Another lie. He hated himself for it, but he had to until Wednesday.

"Okay Jess, good luck with your client!"

"Bye Rory."

"Bye Jess."

There's a single 'click' and the line goes dead.
