Daydreaming

Rory's POV

Wow. Jess. I knew mom being married to Luke would mean that I'd have to see him, but I wasn't expecting the emotional aspect of things to hit me this hard. I had thought about visiting Truncheon Books, Jess's business, on Wednesday night whenever I got into Philadelphia, but I didn't know if I was going or not, so my emotions never caught up with me.

But now. As I sit at a meeting that two hours ago I was so excited for, all I can think about is the last time I saw him.

The pride I felt in him for finally doing something good with his life.

A gleam in his eyes while talking to people the whole day, that I usually only saw when he was looking at me.

Oh his eyes. Those deep amber colored eyes of his. One look into his eyes used to be able to send warmth through me and shivers down my spine. The only thing that could make me melt faster then his eyes, was his smile.

His half cocked, crooked smile, could make my legs buckle. With his perfect smile comes his lips.

Those lips. The same ones that kissed me that night almost two years ago. It feels like it's been eons. That kiss. There was so much passion. It was so intense that just thinking about it gives me tingles.

I'm suddenly ripped from my Daydream when my roomate, Harley, bumps me in the shoulder.

"Hey sweetie, you okay?"  When I don't respond right away I get another nudge.

"Uh. Yeah, I'm fine." I try to say convincingly, but I'm pretty sure I failed.

"Then what was the point of this meeting?" Yup. I failed.

"Okay. You caught me. I got some news from my mother earlier that I'm still trying to process."

"Well lucky for you, I noticed your daydreaming early on, so I took detailed notes of the goings on of the journalist minds of tomorrow." She says with a wink. "And if you want to talk about the goings on with your life, then I'm here, just like you were whenever I found out about my soon to be ex-husband's floosie."

A few months ago, Harley called her husband's phone, and instead of her husband answering, some bimbo picked up and had no clue that her lover had a wife. I was there whenever she found out, and I helped her though everything, including getting a lawyer and drawing up divorce papers.

"Thanks Har, but I think this may be a ghost from my past that I have to deal with myself, but I will definitely make good use of those notes!"

I reach for them, but before I do she quickly puts them behind her back.

"Nope, you get these, after you promise to go out with me tonight and participate in drunken karaoke!"

"You're going to have to get me insanely drunk, but fine I'll participate. First I have to make a phone call though."

We get back to our hotel and while Harley tries to charm the bell boy into sneaking us free booze, I go upstairs to make the emotionally dreaded phone call. I resort to talking to him in the bathroom just in case Harley comes back earlier than anticipated. I reach into my bag for my phone, and as I grab it, I relise that I don't have Jess's number.

I turn my phone on to call Luke, he's got to have it. Before I can begin dialing, a text message pops onto my screen. It's from Luke.

'Here's Jess's number, talked to your mom and figured you'd be needing this.'

Thank the powers that be, mom has finally uploaded her technology information to Luke's brain. A few years ago he didn't even know what speed dial was. I let out a silent chuckle at fhe memory. I actually can't wait to get back to Stars Hollow, I miss whenever life was just going to Luke's to get some coffee.

No more thought provoking procrastination! Now it's time to do it, Rory. Now you've got to call your ex boyfriend.

I hear his rough voice before the phone even rings three times. "Hello?"

Keep it together, Rory. Dont sound to eager, nor emotionally akward about this call, just sound causal.
" Jess? It's Rory, I got your number off of Luke, can we talk?" That was perfect. Casual, but not trying to hard to be casual.

Damn this is going to be a hard conversation, I can't even say hello without over analysing everything.  But then, my head always goes a little foggy when it comes to Jess..
