Author's Note: Sorry if it seems like there's nothing going on yet... But it's important to the story.
I leant on the closed door a little longer, my eyes closed tight and my heart rate slowing. God, if she had heard us...
Terri grabs my hand, pulls me gently towards the beanbags and extremely low table in the middle of her room.
It's like a little fairy grotto in here: pastel pink walls, adorn with posters of cute little animals; a giant four poster bed- transparent pink curtains hanging gracefully from each post, a huge pastel purple sheet with matching pillows, groups of smaller pillows in every shape and size imaginable and teddy bears strewn across it; a doll house and toy box, which also happen to be pastel pink and purple, placed carefully in the corner of the room; a large, round, pink rug in the middle of the wooden floor; fairy lights hanging from everywhere imaginable...
"Sit down, Daddy." She says, letting her firm grip of my hand cease.
"Ok baby, I'm sitting down." I laugh, obeying her command. She hands me a tiny little teacup and a plate of chocolate chip cookies. I take one and smile at her.Five years ago I would never of imagined this day. I would never of imagined having a beautiful little Daughter, especially one so sweet.
She goes to sit down- but falls into the beanbag, almost buried due to her small size. She's only five, but she's still so tiny... So delicate...
She giggles, as do I.
"You ok there, Terbear?" I say still laughing. She nods, giggles. We play for a few hours, since her Mother takes no notice of her- except for when she's either drunk or just deciding to pick on her- I take the role of both Mommy and Daddy. I couldn't be happier.
I sit there, admiring my Daughter. She's so perfect.
Her skin is like her Mother's once was: warm ivory; adorn with freckles all over her face, except those on her nose and cheeks were most visible.
Her eyes are so beautiful; like a bright, sapphire blue ocean with flecks of ice.
Her hair is dark, a shade between mine and her Mother's... It's long, curly and falls down her back gracefully.
Considering we are an extremely wealthy "family", both Terri and I dress as normal as possible: she wears a stripy blue and white shirt, layered with denim overalls; a pair of white canvas trainers, the laces undone."Daddy?" She says gently, almost in a whisper.
"Yeah?" I say, snapping out of my thoughts. She pauses for a moment, before smiling brightly and getting up. She rushes over to me and throws her arms around my neck.
"I love you." She whispers in my ear.
I smile, as always.
"Guess what?" I whisper back.
She lets go and sits on my lap, my arms around her.
"What, Daddy?" She says looking confused.I put my hand deep into my pocket, rumage around for a moment, and pull out something.
"What's that?" She asks me.
I smile at her, still not revealing what's in my hand.
"I love you, Terri. Whether your Mother does or not. You mean more to me than anything in the whole, wide world." I tickle her gently, smiling throughout. Her confused face turns into an ear-to-ear wide smile and she throws her arms around my neck again.
I cuddle her, until she lets go. She's always the first to let go, I make sure of that. I never know how long she's gonna need it for..."Here." I say, opening my hand.
She gasps a little.A beautiful, silver locket in the shape of a heart. Engraved perfectly in an elegant font, is "Terri".
"Come here, I'll put it on for you." I begin opening the clasp and fasten it around her neck.
"Thank you, Daddy!" She smiles.
I smile back.
"Here, look."I open the locket, revealing a picture of Terri and I, taken not long ago. In the other side, engraved just as on the front, are the words; "I love you, Terbear. I always will. -Daddy."
I read it to her, huge smiles on both of our faces.
"I love you too, Daddy." She says, hugging me again.
"I love you, always... Terri."
