The clouds, flecked with fire, all merged together to form a curtain; as if it were about to open and reveal a beautiful, blue scene. I sat on the ramps- silently- cradling my legs. I watched the two boys in awe as they skated up and down, throwing in a trick here and there: I felt peaceful.
Then, all of a sudden, my silence was broken.
"TEZ!" A high-pitched voice called out. I sat up higher. In the distance, just outside the park, Mia. My crazy, one-of-a-kind Best Friend who I wouldn't trade for anything in the whole world.
She was up on her toes, bouncing a little, and waving; her long, blonde curls flopping with her as she stood on her toes.I beamed; got up as fast as possible and ran down the ramp at full speed. We ran towards each other and came together in a clashing hug in the middle of the park.
I really felt at peace now. I was at one of my favourite places ever- the skate park- with my favourite person ever- Mia. In the few seconds that we held each other, swaying side to side in attempt to stay upright, all my troubles seemed to disappear. That's what being Best Friends is all about: forgetting everything.
We let go.
"Oh my God, I was so worried when you didn't come to mine. I-" she began.
"I'm fine. I just-"
She cut me off as I did her.
"Did you have another argument with your Mom? What time did you get here? Did you see any fit guys?" She asked me, bouncing a little.I shrugged her off.
"Yeah, about 5:45, nah." I answered all her questions.
She sighed. Shook her head.
"You should have come to mine- Wait... 5:45?!" Her tone changed within seconds.
I nodded and turned away.Mia hated hearing that I had been alone for so long. Well, I'm alone all the time anyway, but not physically. I'm usually always with Mia, or at least I text her and let her know where I am. Today, I had done neither of those.
"Chill. It's fine." I say, shrugging.
"You... Uhg. Tez think of what could have happened! You came to the skate park at 5:45AM alone!" Mia retorted.
"I know. Just... I needed to get out."She shook her head again.
"Well... We better start walking to school, it's almost 7:15." Mia says, grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the gate.
We pass the boys on the way; and I swear I saw Markus look at me.My face heated up; I knew I must have looked like a tomato; my head went light; my heart pounded...
Stop. I told myself.
Why was I feeling like this? It was just some random guy with dark, messy hair and pretty brown eyes, that I saw in all my favourite places; had never properly made eye contact with, let alone held a conversation; probably doesn't even know me and even if he does, thinks I'm a weirdo.
"Tez? Terri? Teeerriii?"
I snapped out of whatever I was just in.
"S-Sorry." I stammer.
Mia stopped; looked confused for a second; then smiles.
"Who were you looking at?" She smirked, her eyebrows raising.
"N-No one." I lie.
"Lies." She said simply.
"You. Were staring. At him." Mia pointed up at the two doofs- one of which being Markus- who were swinging off the half pipes and doing random tricks in the air before landing perfectly on the board.
I blush.
"I was not!" I refused.
"Yeah, whatever." Mia laughed lightly and we continued walking to school.
