The next morning Petunia had woke up without the help of Hermione. She also lead their way to breakfast, deciding that this morning was a good morning. After breakfast they made their way to charms class where they tried to learn the wand lighting charm lumos. Quite a few students got it down pact, although none as fast as Hermione. Once they were dismissed, Hermione and Petunia made their way down to the greenhouses. As they approached, a familiar voice called out to Petunia."Hey! Pete your in this class too?" Petunia looked up to find December striding towards them.
"December! Come on, Hermione!" Petunia beckoned, racing towards December. Hermione followed closely, giving December an up and down.
"Did you do that yourself?" Hermione asked with a raised brow, gesturing to her ripped robes.
December grinned. "Hell yeah! Me mum's really into alternative culture so she helped out."
"Oh wow, that's..neat." It was obvious that Hermione wasn't very into 'alternative culture' like December and her mum. From December's narrowing eyes Petunia felt a fight coming on. These two being her only friends, she wanted to keep everything civil.
"Hey your hairs a different colour today! How'd you change it so fast?" Petunia inquired, changing the subject to her light green hair, which Petunia could have sworn was longer than it was yesterday.
"I'm a metamorphmagus so it's pretty easy." December said, flicking a strand of hair from her face.
Hermione instantly forgot her distaste for December and bombarded her with questions about being a metamorphmagus throughout all of herbology, to Professor Sprout and the other students displeasure. To Petunia however, it was a great sign. As the conversation continued, the interigation of being a metamorphmagus turned into a pleasant get-to-know that left both more informed about each other.
As the students left greenhouse 1 December promised to see them soon outside of the classroom. Petunia was feeling smug as walked over to the Gryffindor table where the other Weasley's recognised that face.
"Oh no, Petunia's got her face on." Fred grinned.
"Whose teeth did you knock out?" George asked eagerly.
"Nobody's!" She rushed, seeing Hermione's look of questioning. "I'm just happy Hermione and December are getting along so well." Hermione gave Petunia a side glare and continued to eat her sandwich. George raised his brow but didn't go into it any further, thank god.
The next few days were simular, nothing changing other than Hermione enjoying herbology with her two newest friends. Only on Friday did anything new happen.
-September 6th, 1991-
Petunia was nervous about the double potions with Professor Snape. She couldn't eat a single morsol that morning because of how upset her stomach was feeling. Thankfully, nobody seemed to notice as they were either putting final touches on papers or nose deep in One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.Hermione and Petunia shared a silent high five as they got to class on time, which they were sure they wouldn't have been able to do with the vast expanse that was the Hogwarts dungeon. Taking a seat between Ron and Hermione, Snape swept into class and instantly began roll call.
"Harry Potter." Snape called, his lips turning down into a sneer. "Our own little..celebrity."
Three boys in the back found his remark partically hilarious and Petunia couldn't help turning around to glare. Before she could get a word out, Professor Snape stepped in.
"And you, my dear are?" He asked, looking at the boys before turning back to Petunia. His eyes bulged when he saw her face, as if he recognised her. Maybe he knew her parents.
"I'm Petunia Potter." She said boldly, looking him dead in the eye. "And I don't think you're little comment was very teacherly-like."
Snape's face went a sickly pale and his eyes went distant for a moment before his sneer came back. "You better take that back, Miss Potter. I do not take fond to people who talk back to me." Then they stared in silence, Petunia's lips curling into a smirk.
"What do you find so amusing, Miss Potter?" He hissed, but Petunia just turned around and prepared her quill for notes.
"Tell me at once, Miss Potter! I will not tolerate such disobedience." He was absolutely livid as he glared down at Petunia.
"Well you told me not to talk back to you, sir. How was I being disobediant?" Petunia replied, a rush of pride going through her at the muffled snickers her fellow Gryffindors tried to hide.
"A point from Gryffindor for your cheek, Potter." He swept up to the front of the room with a huff. With a flick of Professor Snape's wand, instructions appeared on the board. "Divide into pairs, and no helping each other!"
Hermione and Petunia paired up, one measuring and chopping the ingrediants while the other placed them in and stirred (two clockwise, three counter). Petunia finally placed the last handful of porcupine quills into the cauldron. With two more stirs their potion turned a royal blue, just as the instructions foretold. But it seemed Neville had an accident, melting Seamus's (she'd finally learnt his name) cauldron and having red boils sprout and pop all over his body.
"Get him to the hospital wing immediately!" Shouted Snape, turning his eyes on Harry as Seamus ushered a puss-oozing Neville out. "Mr.Potter! Why didn't you tell him not to add the quills? Felt like him messing up would make you look good? Another point fr-"
"This is such garbage!" Petunia cried, standing up.
"What is garbage?" Growled Snape, who towered over her. With a glare she stood her ground. "You told us at the start of class that we were to 'Divide into pairs and no helping each other!'" She did a horrible impersonation of Snape, "and now you want to punish the whole house of Gryffindor for Harry following your orders? That's utter cowdung!"
Snape's eyes blinked rapidly as if his brain had stopped working. "Everybody OUT!" He roared, pointing at the door. There was a scrape of chairs and a rush out of the door as nobody wanted to face his wrath.
Petunia was the first one out, her sight going green. She was absolutely livid, but also terrified. If anybody saw her eyes at the moment they'd know she was a freak. Everybody was already questioning her gloves and seeing her eyes and viens glow green would not help keeping her ability quite.
"Pete! Hey Pete wait up!" Shouted Hermione, trying to keep up to Petunia's fast pace.
"Hermione, I-I've got to be alone for a bit." Petunia said, rushing deeper into the dungeon.
