Petunia woke with a shock, Tom's diary laid on her chest as before but her blankets were off.
"Strange." She thought, as she went to close the diary a horrible feeling crept through her. Her hands, her arms, even her clothes seemed to be covered in blood.
"Oh my lord, oh my lord." She whispered, looking around the room to make sure none of her roommates were in before dashing to the bathroom. She scrubbed desperately at the dried blood, tears escaping her eyes as it slowly scraped off. After it finally had all come off she quickly switched out of her robes and into a nightgown and took her quill and inkwell out.
'Tom what was that?'
'My dear Petunia, I told you my third year of Hogwarts was not joyful.'
'But that boy, and I just came back covered in blood just as that wall had been covered in.'
'I am so sorry that happened my dear, you see that was not my memory but actually one that I had borrowed and had placed into this book. When one enters a memory sometimes they bring parts back out of it, like the blood for instance.'
'I never want to go into that memory again.'
'I understand. I'll leave you now, I believe your friend is coming up the stairs.'
As Petunia's eyes scanned those words she heard somebody climbing the stairs. Petunia quickly threw the diary, quill and (capped) inkwell into her trunk as the door was opened.
"Petunia, there you are!" A relieved Hermione sighed, rushing over and hugging Petunia tightly.
"What's going on?" Petunia asked, looking at Hermione's troubled face.
"You don't know?" She said, eyes wide. When Petunia shook her head, Hermione sighed and sat down beside her. "Harry, Ron, and I found Ms. Norris petrified in the dungeons right near Moaning Myrtles bathroom. And behind her on the wall read-
"The chamber of secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir beware." Petunia whispered, eyes widening. What exactly had just happened while she was in that boys memory?
"Exactly, so you did hear about what happened. It was so scary, and Filch blamed Harry for the whole thing!" She fumed, running her fingers through her frizzy hair.
"I'm gonna go to bed Hermione, I'm really tired." Petunia said, brain exploding with confusion.
"Okay, goodnight." Hermione said, giving Petunia one last hug before going back down the stairs, presumably to talk to Harry and Ron again.
Petunia sank down into her bed, her mind full of fearful thoughts and questions. She was in for a sleepless night.
