After the game , all of us started heading back to the cars. I was slightly ahead of everyone else. Connor's team had won the game, barely. It was the championship game against the best team of the conference. The team hadn't lost a championship game in like 12 years. There was 30 seconds left and the Bearcats (the other team) had the ball and were in scoring distance. The game was tied, and the Bearcats needed to score right then. The quarterback threw the ball down the field and the Cougars (Connor's team) intercepted it and got tackled at the 45 yard line. Then Connor started doing cartwheels on the field like a boss. Then there was only 1 second on the game clock and Connor was about to be tackled, but instead got out of the pocket (Whatever that is?) and aired it out to Nick Seegmiller the best receiver on the team, and he caught it to win the game. I don't even like football, but Kendal understood it so she told me what was happening the entire game. Everyone else seemed so excited about the game for some reason. I wondered why. I was so deep in thought that I hardly saw anything around me. Suddenly, I looked up and slammed into Ethan's car, shattering one of the rearview mirrors.

"WHAT THE FUDGE, L!" Evel Ethan screamed, looking up just the wrong moment.

I gulped and stepped away from the car, trying not to act too guilty. "It got in my way!" I said weakly.

"OH MY GOD, L! You are SO dense!" he screamed.

Ew, what was up with this guy? WHY THE FLUFF DID HE SAY I WAS DENSE? WHO EVEN USES THAT WORD ANYMORE? What did Lily see in this doofus?

"Um... okay?" I said.

I looked at our "group" to see if anybody would be willing to save me. Corn was on the verge of cracking up, Lily was giving me the death glare, along with Ethan. I didn't think Sky was going to take my side this time, because she and Emery were laughing too hard to get any words out, and May was smirking in satisfaction.

However, the person I least expected to save my life did.

"Come on Ethan. Cut him some slack. I'm sure it was an accident." said Kendal. I was astonished and overjoyed at her words.

"BUT HE BROKE MY FREAKING MIRROR! How am I going to check my hair now?"

"MAYBE IT WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO DRIVE CORRECTLY, WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR HAIR EVERY FIVE SECONDS!" Kendal retorted.

"KENDAL!" shrieked Lily, "HOW DARE YOU TAKE THE SIDE OF MY IDIOTIC BROTHER INSTEAD OF MY AMAZING BOYFRIEND!"

"YEAH!" agreed Evil Ethan, "I REALLY AM AMAZING!"

I tried my to think of a reasonable thing to say. I thought very deeply for like, 5 seconds. After that failure, I went with the only option left, I screamed like a maniac and ran rapidly in the other direction. After about ten yards of running, I realized I was being followed by Ethan, who was carrying a large potato that looked really, really hard.

Was that in his car? Where the heck did he get a potato? I looked around for a concession stand, but saw none. Then, I looked back at Ethan who now had raised the potato, about to throw it and... he chucked it toward my face.

"L!"

That was the last thing I heard before I was tackled to the cold ground. Ouch. I heard something clank against the cement a few yards away. But I decided to focus on that later because first, there was the fact that there was still a person on top of me. I smelled strawberries and shampoo but I couldn't quite recall where I had smelled that before. But then it hit me. Kendal. I barely even had to turn my head to the right to come face to face with her.

"Hi," she laughed awkwardly. "Ethan was about to hit you with a metal potato."

At that moment, it was like she just realized that she was still on top of me because her cheeks flushed red and she sat up on the concrete next to me, inspecting her knee, which she had apparently scraped during the fall.
