Chapter 30

Nallie's POV
I couldn't stop sliding down and I kept hitting trees. I didn't open my eyes and expected to stop already but I didn't.

CARTER !!! I yelled.

There was a loud splash.

I opened my eyes and see nothing but deep blue water all around me.

My first instinct: where the hell is my phone ? I had a life proof case on it so it should be fine. I looked around and couldn't find it anywhere. I dive down more and I saw nothing but rocks. Suddenly, I saw something that caught my eye. My book bag ! I swam and grabbed but it was lodged in between 2 rocks. I kept tugging on it but it wouldn't give. Then I felt a tug on my shirt. It was Carter. He motioned me to go but I  wanted to get my bag. I shook my head and kept on tugging. Then I got yanked and surfaced to the top.

"What the hell Carter?!?", I yelled at him.

"You were going to drown!", he said.

"But I needed to grab my stuff!", I said.

"Geez no thank you for saving your life?!", he said.

"You don't deserve a thank you". I said.

I dove back down as hard as I can and tugged on my bag as hard as I can and I got it.

I swim back up to the surface and get out of the water, I don't see Carter anywhere so he problemly left me.

I shake my bag upside down hoping to get all the water out. I plop on the ground with a big sign.

What am I going to do? My phone is in this stupid river and my friend left me, I just love my life. I lay down on the ground hoping the sun will dry my clothes so my parents won't ask what happened. I hear a hard plop right next to me. I open my eyes and see my wet phone!

"Do I deserve a thank you now?", Carter asked me shyly.

I look at him and he is breathing heavily and his clothes were more soaking than mine.

I look down at my phone again smiling to myself.

"Thank you", I said quietly.

"Oh I'm sorry can you say that a little louder ?", he said sarcastically.

"Hey don't push it," I said smiling.

He sat down next to me and laughed.

"What's so funny ? ", I said.

"Don't you find this as least a little funny", he said smiling.

"Well if you find almost breaking your ankles and getting lost funny than sure" , I said.

"Well that's how you see it, try looking at it a different way, you were so into taking pictures with your phone to post on social media that you forgot to enjoy the simple joys of nature and Mother Nature was like "Bitch no enjoy me or else I'll use you for my own entertainment" so Mother Nature makes a ditch for you to fall in and you fall screaming and thinking you are plummeting to your death and ruins your bag." he said.

"Oh my gosh Carter, well if you put it that way, then yeah it was a little funny," I said.

"So what do you want to do now ?", I asked.
