After dinner Hunter was the one to escort me back to the room I was staying in. The words Victor said to me still rang in my head and I hoped it would end.
"You are a special person Celia. Your powers are special too. I can help train you when you're ready. And I believe that you will eventually warm up to me. I hope you won't hate me anymore."
The worst part of it all was I knew I won't leave this place hating him. I'd end up feeling sorry for him. Victor's life was shit and even though we never continued from there throughout the dinner he had this horrible, depressing look in his eyes. What could a person possibly do in that situation? He witnessed so much for who knows how many years. That is obviously a clear reason why he is the way he is.
But it was still no excuse.
Hunter opened the door for me. "Lea will be up soon."
Instead of walking into the room I turned and faced Hunter. "Why are you here? You don't strike me as the kind of guy to follow orders."
Amusement danced in his eyes. "I'm not. But I have no choice."
"But why?"
"You sure do ask a lot of question don't you?"
For a moment I thought of having a similar conversation with Cole and my heart thumped painfully in my chest. "Maybe. Are you going to answer any of them?"
Hunter lifted his head slightly. At first I thought he was going to tell me off but instead he broke out into a childish grin. "I see why the boss man likes you. You've got spunk. He's also the reason why I'm not allowed to tell you things. Trust me, I would. If there's nothing more I love pushing Victor's buttons but I'm walking on thin ice as it is. But to make a long story short I was sold into this."
I shivered, "Do you have any powers?"
He nodded curtely. "Watch this." He lifted his finger and electricity sparked on his fingers. I watched the lights dance and flicker on his finger and quickly as it had came he closed his hand.
"Wow, that's amazing." I replied sincerely. "So someone sold your powers to Victor?"
He nodded again. "Now that's all I can say. Go into your room." I wasn't ready to go back into the overly large, loney room quite yet and Hunter could read it on my face. He sighed heavily and placed his hands on my back guiding me into my room. "Look Lea and I are technically under your orders too. So if you ever want something from the outside just let me know and I'll get it for you. Satisfied?"
I nodded feebly and he shut the door behind me. By the time I made my way over to the bed exhaustion overcame me and I found myself laying down on the soft material. I barely heard the door open and Lea enter.
"Why do they keep sending you to me?" I asked and propped myself up just a little.
Lea shrugged. "Probably because Victor is a sick man. He wants me to feel guilty."
"As you should." I retorted.
She nodded. "Trust me I am. Is there anything you need or want?"
"Actually yes." I said quickly. I got off the bed and walked towards her. "I need you to contact my friends and let them know where I am."
Her eyes went wide. "I know this is asking for much but you said you were guilty and that you loved Cole. Why not make up for it? For real this time."
"You don't understand Victor could kill my father. He's the only one I have left." Her voice was breaking slightly and my heart called out to her. What I was doing was selfish and asking for a lot. But I had to get out of here. I had to at least tell them I'm okay and Victor won't hurt me. I think.
