Victor's POV-

I hate my life. A lot of people say that, believe me I'm aware, but I really mean what I say when I say I hate my life.

I am in no hurry to jump off a cliff or slit my wrist. I do however want what everybody in world wants--power.

I am sick and tired of running around doing things for other people and getting absolutely nothing in return. No one around here treats me with respect but that's all going to change. "Victor I'd like to see you in my office." The Principal at Lake View High said over the speakers. The classroom erupted in a roar of "oohs" and "He's gonna get in trouble."

I rolled my eyes not bothering to calm down the class. If it were up to me I'd bang all of their little heads against their own desk but of course I had to keep my job.

I've been working at this high school for years and it’s been slowly rotting my brain. I wouldn't be surprised if I were going to be fired. I barely care about teaching history. My life is pathetic.

I pushed the door opened in the main office. The secretary, the one who hasn't called me back, smiled wryly at me. "Hello Victor... how are you?"

I grunted in response and kept walking .I'll deal with her later.

I walked in the office and sat down on the black leather chair. Bracing myself for another let-down.

The principal put his hands on the desk and raised a little. He did this often to students and parents when he wanted to show his authority. Right now it made him look like an idiot.

"Victor, I brought you here for a favor. So don't expect anything terrible despite what you've heard." He said calmly. Slight relief slid through me.

"What’s the favor?" I ask. He pursed his lips and scratched his extremely bald head. "There is this place. I've heard the kids talk about but I haven't ever got the time to do it. Since you’re a history teacher I thought you might be interested in it"

I knew what he was talking about. The Sudley Mansion. It's been there for years and they say you walk in a mortal and walk out with powers. Imagine the power.

"Did you hear what I said?"

"Huh? No I'm sorry I didn't." I shifted uncomfortably. He cleared his throat. "You know what forget it. I'll just have the secretary do it. You can go back to your class."

I stood up straight. "No! I wish to go to this house."

He raised an eyebrow. "Did you not hear me? I am the principal of this school and whatever I say goes. Go back to your class room now Victor or pack up your things and leave."

My mouth twitched and I forced a smile. "Okay sir." I started to walk out but turned to face him again." Just remember that when you treat others badly things always come back to you" and with that I slammed the door.

"I'm really sorry about what happened in there." Abby said. I put a hand up. "Why didn't you call me back? You said you had a really great time"

She grimaced. "I did. But I don't like you like that. I like my men to be in high places and successful. You're just a history teacher..." She trailed off sadly. I felt a pain stab at my chest.

The principal's door opened. "Abby dear, can you come help me with my..." He saw me still standing there and turned beet red.

   I get it now.

"You two are dating now?" I managed to ask my anger boiling. The principal coughed while Abby looked at her hands clearly uncomfortable. I laughed bitterly.
