The car ride was endless and sitting next to Cole who was very hot and cold, wasn't the best experience in my life. I tried to avoid looking at him and focused on the trees outside instead. Chanel and Rex were in the front too busy talking about what they plan to do with their powers.
"I've always wanted to be a therapist," Chanel admitted playing with her hair. "Maybe that would be the best job for me to have. Especially with my power. I can make everyone feel better!"
Rex nodded in approval. "Yeah. And maybe since I can control fire I can be a fireman. I can save a lot of lives."
I couldn't help the snarky comment that popped into my mind. I looked at Cole feeling like a child. "I know what you can do Cole. You can run an ice cream service. The kids will love you." I teased. Rex and Chanel laughed and Cole didn't even acknowledge me.
"Funny. Maybe you could join a circus or something. I hear they pay big for mind readers."
I glared at him. What was this boy's deal? One second he was somewhat nice to me and the second he was jabbing things my way. Sure, I hit him first with my remark but it was all in good fun.
"What's your problem with me anyway? Did I do something to you?"
He still would not look at me. Instead he messed with the car door handle. "No. Why ever would you say something like that?"
Rex and Chanel were back into their conversation. I took advantage of the privacy I had to ask him the question that has been eating me alive.
"Why did you say I was going to be yours?" I made my voice low so the others wouldn’t hear me. He finally looked at me without any expression. Maybe a bit of amusement. "Did that scare you?"
I felt my cheek heat at the comment but I didn't flinch. "No. It was odd but it didn't scare me."
He smiled. "You're lying."
"I am not lying!" What was it about him that made me act like a ten year old child?
Rex turned down the music a little. "Do I have to turn this car around?" He asked raising an eyebrow. Chanel giggled.
(He is kind of cute when he does that. What am I kidding, he's always cute)
I made a gagging noise and Chanel narrowed her eyes at me. I'm guessing she knew I read her mind.
(I don't hate you Waters. I dislike you. As to why I do not know. When I figure it out, I will tell you. Pinky promise) Cole smiled at me and I shivered. He was definitely a bipolar person. I'm not sure I even wanted to know the reason he disliked me. It would be a stupid reason I'm sure.
I scoffed anyway. "I'm sure you will. Maybe when pigs fly."
"I've witnessed pigs flying once." Rex commented, "It wasn't exactly pretty because they are very messy and smell terrible."
Chanel shuddered. "Flying pigs? Now that is what I don't believe."
Figures seeing as though you believe in magic. "I find that hard to believe."
Chanel turned around in the passenger seat to give me a look. "What do you mean?"
I fidgeted trying to move away from Cole's cold aura. Since this ice thing he's been cooler than usual. No pun intended. Maybe that's why he's so bipolar? Again no pun intended.
"You believe in magic but you don't believe in pigs flying?"
"Turn this corner Rex, and stop the car."
